Ballpin Hammer
Pinball? Strange word grouping. I don't really see how a pin can be a ball, but I am just one little guy trying to think this out. No matter, Keynote told me all about the pinball arcades and games of this nature. And he bought me this terrific book. Now I know a whole lot about all kinds of balls made out of pins and the way you can play games with them. This was very cool. I like this book very very much. And you will too.

A Mine of Information
Having been a Pinball addict since my teens (too many years ago), I bought this book to re-live some of those memories. I was not disappointed. It is full of information on all types of machines together with excellent colour pictures. Many of my favourite pinballs of the sixties and seventies (but also modern ones if you prefer those) are featured together with explanations of what made them special.

The only problem is that it brought back my enthusiasm to such an extent that I went out an bought my own machine, so this book cost me a lot of money!

Fantastic book and an amazing enterprise
Well layed out, informative, impressive amount of detail. The author's love of every part of the game shines through on every page. A truly great pinball book.

This book is a must
It's incredible!
everybody must read this book, because is the history told n a great way. With impressive historical background and poetical language.

Jews and Catholics should read in order to know what happened and the horros of the inquisition for more than 4 centuries and all around the world

Extraordinary
This is a must read for anybody who wants to get inmersed in what the inquisition was like in South America and how Jews needed to hide in order not to get punished or killed.

I couldn't stop reading it. A triumph!

The eternal struggle of man against man
Marcos Aguinis is truly a gifted writter and this, I believe, is his masterpiece. The story centers around what could be considered the first Jewish martyr in Latin America...his life falls into the hands of the Spanish Inquisition's American tentacles and all because he fails to believe in the imposed religion's symbols (he argues -rightly so- that the venerance of the "cross" is the perpetuation of a symbol of oppression and torture), he holds onto his life through logical dissertations with his inquisitors and finally ends up burned at the stake because they did not know what else to do with him (they just could not argue any longer when held to close scrutiny of illogical beliefs)...but even more poignantly is the underlying story of man's own destruction of man, which at this time had masqueraded within the strict confines of organized and established religion...the only word that came to my mind at the end was: tolerance...we are in dire need of tolerance in our world, as it was then...so it is now...a truly awesome book! a must read!

Great Introduction!
A self-help manual for relieving the stress and pressures of everyday life, this book is suitable for beginner and practitioner alike. The authors have combined their experiences with both acupressure and yoga to create a set of four exercises that can increase health and vitality and relieve stress when practiced daily. A large portion of the book further addresses 24 common disorders (such as menstrual discomfort, headaches, and indigestion) and the specific positions that can help relieve them. Numerous black-and-white photographs illustrate the positions.

Yoga for Beginners and Experienced Practitioners
This is the one book that I recommend for anyone interested in yoga and overall health. By combining postures with meridians, (flows of energy thruout the body)and specific organs of the body, the information gives the yoga practitioner a more complete sense of the benefits of that posture. This also allows for a better focus, more mindfulness of the posture and intent. The photos and essays are clear and easy to view. Enjoy!

Acu-Yoga
I'd agree that Gach writes a very straight forward and simple book. If you are a beginner to the acupressure/kinesiology world, you will easily understand the basics [with the aid of this book]. The book gives many useful points, but for general problems most of the time. His knowledge in some promblematic areas goes into more depth than others. So, if you are looking for help with a specific problem, little information might be given or non at all. For example, the book gives great explanations and cures for colds, indegestion, depression and headache, however, it explains very little about allergies and sinuses. Gach backs his explanations with a strong facts and basic common sense.

I think that the book could give a better explanation on how to stimulate points. The diagrams of the locations of points are very useful and understandable. Overall, the book is well organized and convienent. If done correctly, the Yoga exercises are very powerful. With just a couple of exercises you can be healed instantly. This book left me curious buy more books on acupressure and is great reference to find quick cures.

Jeeves, I'm not a mother! Help me entertain these children!
Even if you aren't a parent, odds are you have children in your life. How refreshing to find things my nieces and nephew and I can do together on the web besides raid tombs and kill centipedes! I am internet savvy, but have never had any need or time to see what is available for children. I found this guide to be a handy and valuable resource. The best part is, the children and I found things to do that we both enjoyed.

Excellent Ideas
As a teacher and a mother, I highly recommend this book. It is an excellent way for kids to have fun while learning at the same time. Great idea by Callie Gregory!

Fantastic book
Excellent reading material written in a format that kids can relate to. I highly recommend Callie Gregory's "Jeeves, I'm Bored" to individuals with kids interested in adventures on the internet.

A movement of Now.
Too often those of us who seek social justice for people who have been traditionally oppressed tend to just reminisce on the past.

However, this book proves that there is a great social movement that ordinary people CAN , RIGHT NOW make a diffrence about

The history of Mexico, like the history of Latin America, is a history of pain, struggle, and exploitation.

Marcos shows us a movement that seeks to right some of the wrong, and leads a movement of the oldest of the old, the oppressed of the oppressed: Indigenous campesinos (farmers) of Southern Mexico. Where pictures of Jesus Christ stand right there alongside of.....Che Guevara.

A people that have been traditionally been treated like dirt, for lack of a better word, now taking an inspirational and highly moving stand and demand an end to exploitation and a better way of life.

Through their charismatic and briliant leader, Marcos, he tells us the story of the people known as Zapatistas and their struggle for dignity.

The dignity of a people no longer willing to tolerate centuries of injustice.

What human being cannot be moved by such extroadinary courage?

A must to read!
How can anyone read el subcommandante and not be moved? How can anyone just look at the plight of these people in Mexico and not feel rage at the injustice?

this is what a best seller should contain!
I have sporadically read and been inspired by the writings of El Sup over the last few years - his poetic brilliance, his lyrical poignancy to strike a blow while planting seeds - and to see the collected works of this remarkable thinker and revolutionary is simply incredible. I encourage anyone who is involved in a struggle, anyone who seeks light in an increasingly dark world, and anyone who believes that a better world is still possible, to get this book. Not a cover to cover read, but an activist manual, a delicious serving brain food and heart food. Again, simply wonderful.

Building and Managing the Meta Data Repository: A Full Lifecycle Guide

Great introduction into metadata.
If you want to begin learning about metadata, this is a great place to start. It is quite difficult to find books on metadata these days. Metadata is discussed in other books on data warehousing, but nobody tells you in details how to implement a metadata repository. The author gives a good overview of metadata fundamentals, architecture solutions, current industry trends and more. He pays much attention to the issues of project management during repository construction. I liked very much the Tool Evaluation Checklist for repository tools selection. I did not like the fact though, that the author did not pay much attention to business metadata. The seven classes of metadata do not seem to cover all the types of metadata one can meet in real life. In spite of some minor drawbacks the author did a very good job. The book deserves its five stars. Thanks a lot, Mr. Marco!

Building and Managing the Meta Data Repository
This is the best technical book that I've read! This book walks through the fundamentals of meta data. Then it has all of the technical deliverables that you would use for a project and the sequence that you would use them in. Physical meta data models, meta data integration tool evaluation, and a project plan. The war stories that David Marco wrote are informative and fun.

Practical Overview of Meta Data
Books and materials on Meta Data have a tendency to hyperbole on theoretical aspects. Recently I set out to find a book, on Meta Data, to accompany a presentation I was making to the Insurance Industry Association.

Business executives are concerned on return-on-investments for IT investments. Meta Data can be far removed from most executives mind share.

In my search for Meta Data reading material - I came across David Marco's book. Finally I found an author that can write effectively on Meta Data that addresses technical issues while answering questions that business executives will have.

It is very easy to get buried in theory with Meta Data - the challenge is to define an effective company-wide strategy that will increase efficiency and identify opportunities for further analytics. It is important to engage colleagues and built trust for Meta Data implementations.

Mr. Marco does an excellent job of discussing real-world Meta Data implementations. The ideas and concepts he discusses will greatly help most managers embark on a Meta Data strategy.

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Fast Track ASP.NET

Great Starter...A little light on more advanced topics
First let me say this book fully met my expectations from what I know of Wrox press and the Fast Track series. It was a big help on the little things I was hanging up on. I'm a very experienced programmer with a lot of languages under my belt, and so my biggest hurdle in learning a new technology is the "translation" of certain concepts from one platform to another. This book is good for that "I know how to do X in ASP classic...how does that fit into .NET" state of mind. It probably would help to already be familiar with C# or another OO language though...pure VBScripters may have more trouble with the syntactical elements.

My only problem with this book is the very cursory examination of custom user controls. When I started writing ASP.NET, one of the first things I wanted to do was translate my old SSI libraries into the .NET framework, and one of the best ways to do so is with custom user controls...but the book barely spent two pages on it, and what they did discuss was hardly worth mentioning to begin with.

Aside from that one gripe however, great book.

Fast Track ASP.NET
I purchased this book and Fast Track C# together and I was not disappointed with either book.

Pros:

The Fast Track C# book is targeted to Java and C++ developers making the transition to C# and the Fast Track ASP.Net C# Edition is targeted to ASP 3.0 programmers making the transition to ASP.Net. Even though I have limited ASP 3.0 experience, the book was easy to follow and I did not feel lost. When you have multiple authors, the difference in writing styles can sometimes be very obvious but that is not the case with Bellinaso, Gaster, and Hoffman. Their writing styles blend together. It was hard to distinguish where 1 author finished up and another started. Each chapter in this book builts upon the knowledge of the previous chapters. If you have some ASP and/or .Net skills you might want to skip the 1st (What is ASP.Net?) chapter. The authors show the results of the source code. If you do the examples, you can compare your results to the authors. A lot of books show you the source code but never show you the results. How can you know if you are doing it right, if you do not have the results to compare it with? Wrox recommends that this book or the "Beginning ASP.Net using C#" be followed with more advanced or specialized books. This book will give the basic skills to successfully write ASP.Net using C#. I would follow Wrox's advice and supplement this book with more advanced books. This is an excellent starting book and will get you up to speed with ASP.Net using C# in a hurry! I highly recommend this book.

Cons:

If you use a highligher, it may "bleed" through several pages before or after the page that you highlighted. This really makes a messy book. Did anyone else experience this?

Great!
I've partecipated to a number of Microsoft briefing on .net the past year. The evangelists i meet where doing all to make .net impossible to understand and this made me look at .net with a certain suspect. Then i got this book and.. tadah! I've seen the light. If you understand nothing on how asp.net works this is the book for you. You'll see that there is nothing magic, nothing hidden behind ,that your knowledge of asp and ado still worth (despite the propaganda) and that .net could become a improuvement of your old style of work, not his destruction. The book covers shortly but effectively all the aspects of asp.net development. Is a great point to start from.

The Crisis of the Modern World (Guenon, Rene. Works.)

O autor examina as raízes do mundo moderno

a teacher for modern times
Man, under the pretext of conquering the earth, has lost touch with metaphysical reality [ Julius Evola ].

This book should be part of the national curriculum.

An Amazing Work
This book is very special, in that it forms a perfect introduction to Tradional thought and critique. People used to the spirt-negating attitudes of our times may be both shocked and annoyed at the writer's conclusions. Others may find their beliefs and basic feelings clearly articulated for the very first time.

Guenon never uses the apologetics about religion and spiritual matters so common in almost every book on these subjects. he assumes the reader shares his beliefs and views and wastes no time trying to convince us that God exists, spirit is superior to matter, or that there is value in religion. Once reading this refreshing prespective, is hard not to be changed.

Think Naked, but please edit with your clothes on
Marcan's book is a reasonably interesting re-take on the zillion creativity and anti-burnout books that have gone before. It's certainly worth a read if your brain needs a little juice to get out of a rut. That is, as long as you can get past the shoddy editing and notes written in an almost unreadable typeface with a stained-paper background.

Relax, Have Fun, Love Life, Love Your Job, Be a Hero...
What a truly inspirational book! A MUST read for the uptight, uninspired, tired, bored, same-ol'-same-ol' one in your life. Can't see the forest yourself anymore? Read it! (Then buy a copy for your boss because he surely needs it more than you!!).

Thanks, Marco!
