Easy to read & great photos!
Thump thump thumpOooooh the sound of a Guzzi could never be encapsulated onapage but Mick gives a really good go at caputuring the sprit of thislumbering monster of a marque. It is great to see that he not only incldes lots of great information but some personal histories of some Guzziologists. IT makes it all so much more relevant when you read the book. Mick writes a lot of really good books and this is one of them.

Motor Cyclist Magazine ReviewThe February issue of Motor Cyclist Magazine reviewd this book and rated it very highly (that is where I learned about it and will order one). I have always loved Guzzi's and the last line in the review says "Be careful of this book; it can make you want a Moto Guzzi" - you will too!
Great over-all historyThis is arguably the best book on Guzzis I have read.
The opinions are pretty objective and the author lets you know what HE would have bought, given the choice!
Lots of good pictures, sourced from around the world.
Ian Falloon tries not to miss-out any of the twins & even has a nice section on the little 4 valves.

I recommend this to any Guzzi enthusiast.
Long overdueThe credible and respectable work of Ian Falloon, both photographic and journalistic, is of extreme value in filling a huge gap ever-present in the MOTO GUZZI fanatic's English-published history library. He has taken aedquate time to properly research with sincerety his chosen subject first-hand and utilized the full range of world-wide resources available. A job well done, thank you, sir.

Guzzi Big TwinsNice book about Guzzi's Twin models.
A little American based though, but that gives me a different view to the Guzzi development in the US than you get from other books. Still the Italian point of view could have completed the otherwise very nice historical information.
Pictures could have been a little better (more colours and detail).
Don't expect in depth detail about each model, but general stories.
Last version is dated 1998, so getting outdated.
A nice book to have and to read.

GreatThis book is great, rare pictures, a little bit too short. The beginning of this book is fantastic a lot of details, amazing stuff the american motorcycles market. In one word, Great
Greg Field's Latest Book ShinesGreg Field has given us another well-researched, beautiful book, which tells the story of motorcycles with their roots in farm implements, and their souls in the clouds. He brings Moto Guzzi motorcycles to life with stories from people such as Dr. John, little known historical facts, and photos which have never before been publicly shown. This is a book that any motorcyclist will enjoy. It reads like a novel, brought tears to my eyes, and I was hardly able to put it down.

Moto Guzzi Twins Restoration by Mick WalkerThis book is well done and has useful informantion but covers too many models to be helpful on specific models. It provides a good overview and outline procedure. I bought it to aid in the restoration of a 1973 850 Eldorado but there is little specific data on the early models. Most information seems to be on the T style Guzzis '74 to '85. Good book if you have or like Moto Guzzis but get a shop manual if you plan on doing an serious work. I have also ordered Guzziology which I've heard is excellent.
Good for the big twins......unfortunately, I own a small block Lario & there wasn't heaps in this volume for me.
I was rather concerned at the antiquated system described for painting Guzzis. The days of using a brush & enamel are (hopefully) gone. There are suitable colour codes available for the older bikes & any good car painter should be able to match your paint. Also, the method of applying transfers as outlined, scared...me! In fact, it's easy & the newer paints don't hurt them at all.
As the paint job is (arguably) the most important part of a restoration, I think more effort could hve gone into this aspect.

I must admit, colour wiring diagrams would have been useful & worth a few extra sheckels to obtain.
Hard to get it perfect, but still some useful detail between the covers.

Interesting history... but some parts are missing........if you're looking for a general history of Moto Guzzi, then this book provides it. Coverage of the early years is good and Mr. Styles obviously has good access to the factory, or dealer black & white photo archives.
Even Guzzi's 4-wheeled efforts are explored.
The lack of colour plates is a real pity.
Disappointingly for me, there is no mention of the development of the 4 valve twins. Neither the Lario nor Monza are acknowledged.
For the Guzzi enthusiast, this is a good, servicable history.

What is the development story behind the SP fairings?
Many questions are answered, both for the 'old-hand' and new Guzzi enthusiast alike.
Mick gives a personal review of each model, it's foibles & idiosyncracies. An entertaining & enjoyable read!
I'm glad I bought it!
