Heather Hops To It
I may have had too high of expectations after reading the publisher's notes about keeping kids busy while you're cooking in the kitchen. This part didn't work for me, but the magnet on the book is clever. As for the story, it's sweet with a "good values" storyline, although it's short and jumps from one thing to another fairly quickly. So for my 2-year-old we had to discuss what was happening on each page for several readings after getting the book.

First Review
You would be much better served looking at HP-UX 11.x System Administration "How To" Book (ISBN: 0130125156) as it is more up to date. This book was published in 1993, the book I suggested was published in 1998 and is by the same author.

Story-Good, Pictures-Bad & Ugly
The story line for the different adventure were all right, ifyou don't mind getting hurt by one of them, but most of the picturesin there were gross! Like a bunch of whose spider-ants with covering you & a bunch of you team to get the queen. And other about seeing a rabbit get caught in the wed of it & watching it being eaten alive! I think you should find another book, unless you like things being eaten alive!

Raj
Gives a Very basic overview of Clustering. Would be useful for somebody who has no clue about the world of clusters, Otherwise the cost is not worth it. If you are a techie, you can scour the net or look up some Magazine and get the same info without wasting any money. But, if you are a IT manager or Salesman, surely this book is worth decorating your shelf with ;-)

BIG PRICE, tiny book - Bad Ratio, Not so good a book...
Gives an overview of general basic clustering principles, nothing real substantial. If your looking for the best basic understanding, spend a couple hours scouring the Net. (Time better spent!)

Not worth the money
The topic of high-availability in the HP environment is worth understanding in detail for anyone who deals with mission critical systems. Unfortunately, the details and effort behind an implementation and/or configuration of MC/Serviceguard is not addressed. This makes the book essentially a kindergarten level primer of generic solutions, something you could get out of Datamation or Informationweek at no charge. If you don't know anything about redundancy, duplicate I/O paths, UPS, clusters, this may be your book. Otherwise, if you want something you could really use look elsewhere.

"A Waste of time and Money"
Where do they come from? Sure would be nice to have a book with something useful in it. This is a re-hash of the HP Documentation set.

Nothing new and takes exact same info from his previous book
I bought this book because I use both NT and HP-UX. I thought it would add insight and offer specific comparisons.

All the NT information is available elsewhere, and presented elsewhere in a better manner.

The HP-UX info is taken VERBATIM from the author's previous book (HP-UX 10.x Sys Admin).

I can't think of a reason to recommend it to anyone.

A complete waste of time if you've already got the manuals.
This book offers nothing beyond what is readily available to the licensed user of HP-UX and Windows NT. Further, it devotes merely 16 pages to one of the most crucial aspects of HP-UX/NT integration -- AS/9000! Any good book about these two disparate operating systems should include extensive coverage of their integration.

Basically Useless
It was written in 1993. If you're a technical professional, stay far, far away from this title. It is 114 pages that could have been boiled down to a quick reference card. Twenty pages alone are dedicated to e-mail in HP-UX.

Some of the tips:

"Try moving your mouse around on its pad; you should see an arrow move across your scren..."

"Check mail regularly... mail that could be read and deleted takes up valuable disk space"

This was a waste of $29.95. I urge anyone who considers it to look elsewhere.
