The Tallgrass Restoration Handbook : For Prairies, Savannas,
Let me just say that it is nice that someone wrote more than just what plants to use. It is fairly easy to find prairie journals and books that describe everything except how to implement your prairie project. Packard had the good sense to know that seeding rates and implementation techniques are necessary information.

Amazing......
This is a top rate restoration hand book. Amazing amount of information from people who are out doing the work. It is a collection of essays/chapters written by the front-runners in the field. Everything you wanted to know from site selction to seed collection to fire management. Since it is written by actual prairie restorationists, not theorists it is practical and easy to understand. I will recomend it to everyone who is interested in the field.

The prairie restoration and management bible.
As a prairie biologist, I refer to this seminal volume frequently. It is the very best compendium of prairie restoration and management information.

Anyone who has been taken by the ecological romance of the tallgrass prairie, and hopes either to know in detail the ecology of these biomes, or to plant or manage one, needs to have this in the personal library. It's mostly technical, but wonderfully engaging for the "prairieophile." One doesn't really know the prairie until having read this book.

Big City Hit!
My son made me read this book about 20 times in a row after we got it, and now it is among his favorites. he loves the wrecking balls and the character with a backhoe as well as "Jack Hammer". The thick cardboard pages and durable wheels make this book hard to destroy and a great value.

How cool is this!
My son loves this book. It's about his favorite cartoon Rescue Heroes and it has great action in it. Every page has a wheel you can turn to make for action (ie: like the strobe of flashing lights, a cat being rescued, a boy throwing a basketball toward the hoop, etc...) My son loves all of the different Rescue Heroes and this book has a lot of them in it. And who doesn't love a happy ending!

51 Invaluable Perspectives
Peter Krass has edited the Wisdom Series series which includes this volume. Each anthologizes brief essays by different "icons of business." A brief bio of each author precedes her or his essay. In the Introduction, Krass asserts that "Among these various characters, in fact, the general consensus is that leaders are made, not born. The mythology of some mystical ability that surrounds these leaders is just that -- myth. As to the question: What makes a leader? The answer is here" in the 51 essays which he organizes within the following framework:

Part I: The Necessary Qualities

Part II: Dealing with Adversity

Part III: Visions of Progress

Part IV: Evolving Perspectives on Labor

Part V: Company Culture

Part VI: Habits and Idosyncracies

Part VII: Motivators and Mentors

Part VIII: Leading Revolution

[NOTE: Gary Hamel has written a truly brilliant book entitled Leading the Revolution. Compare and contrast his ideas with those expressed by Bossidy, Galvin, Vernon, Watson, Jr., Eisner, Wachner, Marriott, Jr., and Henry Ford in Part VIII.]

Of the 51 essays, the ones I found most valuable include all of those in Part VIII; also, others earlier in the volume such as "The Real Essence of Business" (Roberto C. Goizueta), "Roving Leadership" (Max DePree), "A View from Olympus" (Bill Gates), "American and Japanese Styles" (Akio Morita), "In the Public Eye" (Susan L. Kurtzig), and "Are You a Job-Holder or a Results-Getter?" (T. Coleman du Pont. A wide range of individuals discuss an even wider range of business issues. My suggestion is to select a topic or two of greatest interest and dive in. Because business circumstances can so often change so rapidly and (sometimes) unexpectedly, what you learn from what you read today may well help you to prepare more effectively for an uncertain future in which a new peril or opportunity emerges. Moreover, my guess is that there will be several other essays in this book to help you then, also.

I have also reviewed most of the other volumes in this series and recommend each of them highly.

An Indispensible Resource for the Perpetual Learner
This should be on every leader's or "wanna-be" leader's desk. Written by some of our past century's most effective leaders and edited to provide "side-bars" for the most important points in each of their articles, this book provides a much-needed tool. I have used it to draw on for speeches, research papers, and debate points. I first checked it out from the library to see if the content was worth buying - and I immediately ordered it! This definitely provides food for thought and inspiration. It includes not only the actual articles written by the leaders, but also a one-page profile/background on each.

POOH The Grand and Wonderful Day
Winnie the Pooh's The Grand and Wonderful Day is about how Pooh wakes up and forgets something really important that was going on that day. He walks to all of his friends house's, Piglet, Rabbit, Eyeore but they were all gone so he decides to go to Christopher Robins house to see if he is home. I think that this book is good fer ages 12 and under.

Adorable
This was a favorite of my son and I when he was little. It's predicated on two mysteries: What "grand and wonderful thing" is going to happen today, and just why are Pooh's friends all away when he visits them? The text is very Pooh-oriented ("Although the honey was yummy in Pooh's tummy, it did nothing to jog his memory".... "being a bear of very little brain"... and a song that ends, "rum tiddly tiddly tum,") and the whole book has a ring of authenticity. There's even a mention of the mildly scary "heffalumps and woozles." All turns out well: "...I just remembered that no bear ever had such grand and wonderful friends." The book has 25 pages, with simple, uncluttered pictures on each page.

A Lifesaver
A while ago I found myself having to purchase my 7th computer in 14 years. An initial casual interest had turned into a daily necessity for personal business, business-business, communication and fun.

The 6th computer had crashed - fine one moment, gone the next (luckily a conversation with a friend had prompted me to buy a zip drive and do a full backup only two weeks before.)

I realized I needed to know much more about the options before I purchased, that my peripheral hardware and software needs were steadily increasing, and there were so many terms I just didn't really understand.

I found the Home Office Handbook - thank goodness. Rapidly the mysteries became comprehendible. The guides helped me immensely to intelligently determine what I did and did not need - even to predict which future additions would be compatible. Quick tips and a dose of humor kept it from being a chore.

I know I saved both time and money (and much frustration.) Thank you, Barbara Butler.

Home Office Handbook
Home Office Handbook is great! It tells you what to do with technology in the home office and not just how to decorate the office. And I needed help. I manage a group of apartment buildings at a univerity town and have an office in one of the buildings and another in my home. This book was a major help in figuring out wht I needed in each office and how to connect the offices. It also helped the technician that was working with me.

Read only if you know terms of skateboarding. If you don't know the terms, you wont understand the book. It is still enjoyable if you don't though.

Greatest Book in the World
Look this book is awesome. It tells you how to be a champion and it even has coaches to teach how to become a champion . And it also has coaches for the people who don`t want to be a champion but just want to skateboard for fun too.

Format for adventure for ADD or reluctant readers
What happens next? You decide. What a great way to hook a reluctant reader! You live the life of a Robinson Crusoe in this suspenseful adventure (written in second person) as you encounter pirates, treasure, islanders, challenging terrain and animals. Danger and excitement pull you in by asking you to make a decision at the end of almost every page and sending you to the page where that story direction continues. Short segments and hopping back and forth in the book keep short attention spans happy. Whether you read Sugarcane Island to your child or he or she reads it alone, the chance to shape the story is empowering and magnetic. And how nice to be with your child as he or she learns to weigh risks and discover the outcomes of decisions, in this safe fictional environment.

sugarcane island
Shipwrecked on a small island, the reader is given various unique and fun choices throughout the story. Each choice changes the direction and outcome of the adventure! Many potential adventures and nice illustrations make this book very fun for young people ages 9-14. The original Sugarcane Island, copyright 1976 was one I could not put down as a child.
