Burnin' Rubber, as the subtitle explains, goes "behind the scenes in stock car racing." After writing over 100 books for young readers, George Sullivan certainly knows exactly what interests the reader and just how to present the subject. About 8,000 words, the book is just the right length, taking the reader not only around the track but into the pits, with the drivers and their teams. More than two dozen colorful photos, seven by Sullivan himself, capture the action, sound and smell of burnin' rubber. The boys I saw reading it supplied the appropriate noise for nearly every photo. Just as they enjoyed Sullivan's books on Indy cars and monster trucks, they are now loving this book also. It is the next best thing to actulaly being at the track. The color photos of the jacket are repeated on the child-resistant hard cover.

This book is the most valuable book I own. THE defininitive source for anyone in amature or professional dog racing. In the five years I have competed my Whippets in amature racing, this book has been very valuable. I just used this book to diagnose a severe toe injury that nobody at the track recognized. My local vet would not have known what to do, but my findings in this book led me to call a specialist who confirmed my findings and can perform the necessary surgury. This book saved my dogs ability to run again.

I have used the exams and treatments in this book countless times to diagnose and treat racing injuries in my dogs that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. Many times I have left the track saying "I don't know how he got hurt." or "I don't know why he is limping." I went home, and got out this book, and found the answer.

The training methods are very precise and specific. The schedule for conditioning a dog is layed out week by week.

If you run dogs, you must have this book.

Good for professional and also good for non vetrin. in Europe it is not possible to take a book like this. Most Vetr. can learn from this book too. We are on the race tracks in europe since 25 years with afgaanhounds and since 20 vears in the top, and in this book i found many news.

I found this book to be informative and fun to read. I race at the a local level and have used much of this information to help my own program along. I passed it along to my crew members so they can be on the same page I am. We look forward to using more of the information in this book in the coming race season. Thanks to all involved! finally a book on racing with factual usable information.

This Book is a great learning experience for anyone. I liked this book so much I read it twice already! I bought this book because I wanted to know more about NASCAR racing, and now that I read it all cover to cover, I feel like I can go out and win a race. This book totally exceeded my expectaions, and I recommend it for all NASCAR fans. If you are at all interested in racing, then I highly recommend this book. You will find everything a race fan could ever want to know. I found answers to questions I had about Stock car racing, and why they choose to do things that from my perspective, sometimes dont seem right, but always seem to work out ok. I know so much now i will watch the races from a completely different perspective.

If this book even slightly interests you, don't think about it just buy it. The huge amount of historical photos and data is immense and immersive. You have to see it to believe it, just buy it!

of the Grand Sport Corvette. This book has some fascinating ancedotes about the development and racing of these rare machines. It also has some of the most detailed photographs of this era of racing I've ever seen. If you need a reference for the Grand Sport, this book is well worth the money (and the wait - it took almost six weeks to arrive). It covers all five of the Grand Sports build by Chevrolet and follows them through their lifetime, even including some beautiful color pictures of the restored cars in modern times. I absolutely recommend this book for any fan of Corvettes, the Grand Sport, or just the racing of that period in history.

This is a beautiful book, filled with the talented Mr. Reeve's paintings of famous race horses posed against the background of famous race tracks. I thoroughly enjoyed his narration of how and why he chose to paint each horse at each track. If you enjoyed Royal Blood, you will enjoy this book also. It is well worth purchasing - for your own collection or as a special gift.

A fascinating journey in the Racing world through the eyes of a very talented Artist. Highly reccomended for Horse enthusiast as well as Horse painters.

On page 24 the book indicates that Baseketball was Dale's silver screen debut however it was in Stroker Ace in 1983 that Dale did his first cameo. Just a small oversight I am shure but I found the book to be a must to complete my collection

This book talks and shows how Dale Earnhardt really is. A true champion in his sport, and in his private life as well. No one can compare to the way he was on or off the track, and no one ever will. this book is a great addition to any and all nascar collection one my have. don't let this book pass you by. get it while the getting is still good.

After the third story, Bill Shoemaker is still ahead of Dick Francis on my racetrack. He has had a lot of personal experience in the racing world and isn't a stranger to the things that happen behind the scenes of the track. In the stories, this quality shows and makes his stories really interesting to read.

Being a huge fan of Dick Francis, but not really knowing much about the racing world I hadn't a clue who the Bill Shoemaker was on the cover. But it looked good and sounded good and it had horses in it. So I checked it out of the library...and boy was I in for a surprise. Not only can Shoemaker ride, the man can write too. I have since read a lot of comparisons between him and Francis but I say that's unfair. Yes they both write about horses and races and yes they were both jockeys, but their style is different. They are each great in their own way. Shoemaker's Coley Killebrew series is definitely entertaining and it has quite a few thrills too. The main characters are well-defined and I found myself wishing I could meet them in person. Shoemaker's plots are always fun and take you along for a great ride. I wish he'd write some more. A trilogy is just not enough, I want some more fun.

Brings in many interesting characters, settings, etc., including good worldview/Christian values.

Highly recommended for young Christian boys who like auto racing. :-)

I've had the book for four years and read it front to back every off season to try and break bad habits picked up during the racing season.Frank breaks it down to simple terms and writes it to where it is fun to read. best money spent for a useful tool in everyone's tool box. This book is an excellent approach towards the sport of drag racing from a mental standpoint. Numerous examples, demonstrations, and mental tactics that are keys to success are reviewed, and they work! Also there are chassis tips, sponsorship techniques, and other aspects discussed. If you're a drag racer, or even just a spectator, this book make a great reading material for a true insight ito the mind of a drag racer.

This is one of the best books I have read on Dressage and riding in general. It explains the basics in a way that is easily understood and the pictures illustrate the points brilliantly. I would reccomned this book for anyone who is starting in Dressage.

This book Teaches you the essentials needed for dressage. It is a real help to those who want to learn more about dressage.
