Will be thoroughly enjoyed by all horse racing fans
Jon Kral approaches the camera the way an artist approaches the canvas, and works with light, shadow, framing and imagery the way an artist uses paint, brush, and perspective. Hotbloods: Beyond The Winner's Circle is a visual celebration of the "back stage" race horse environment. The images of horses, people, equipment, stables, and race tracks are superbly crafted in full-page black and white photography. Hotbloods will be thoroughly enjoyed by all horse racing fans as well as photography-as-an-artform enthusiasts.

Hotbloods wins Benjamin Franklin Award
Aside from winning the "Best Art Book" in the 2000 MIPA Book Achievement Awards and placing as a Finalist in the ForeWord Magazine "Book of the Year" awards as Best Art Book, "Hotbloods" also won a PMA Benjamin Franklin Award. Additionally, shots from the book won two National Press Photographer's Association "Picture of the Year" awards. The book is an outstanding example of documentary photojournalism taken to an art form. Congratulations to Jon Kral for the work.

DALE EARNHARDT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN
Just by reading this book. You can tell that Dales memories will always live on forever. If you a HUGE Dale Earnhardt fan like myself, then this book is for you.

*We love you Dale. Your memories will always live in my heart til I see you in Heaven, racing on the tracks of gold. God bless.*

Dale Earnhardt is the BEST
In the book, I expected a lot more stories and anecdotes from racers; I could barely find any. But that's a minor detail. I am a hard-core Dale Earnhardt fan, and this book was very heart-warming. I love all the personal stories of Dale! I haven't gotten a chance to look at it all yet, but it's a wonderful book. I was not a huge racing fan (like I am now) when most of Dale Earnhardt's terrific achievements took place, and this book took me to that land. I'd like to thank whoever's book this is, because all I wanted was a book of tidbits like this, and now I have it. I completely treasure this book. If you are only looking for stories from racers like Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton (some of my personal faves) this may not be right for you, but if you luv the Earnhardts as much as I do, don't hesitate.

An exhaustive reference book on a complicated subject...
McBane has written an extremely thorough book which is of value to any rider who wishes to expand their knowledge of English tack and related equipment.

The book has the following chapters: Saddles and Accessories; Bridles and Bits; Training Equipment; Headcollars and Halters' Clothing; Protective Equipment; Driving Equipment; Care of Equipment; and a good Index. The book is filled with color photos as well as black and white line drawings so you know exactly what she is referring to. As well, she puts in sidebars which go over the reasons why or why not you might want to use a particular piece of tack. Included are some history on various types of equipment and techniques for using the various items correctly.

All in all this is a wonderful book for the English rider of any age or skill level. Don't hesitate to buy it.

Delightful!
This is a charming book with beautiful illustrations. It is a story of the childhood of Miss Ima Hogg, a beloved Texas philanthropist. This book will appeal to all children of reading age, and their parents. I look forward to more books from Margaret Mc Manis, who is sure to become a favorite children's author.

the real Ima
Many children have heard funny stories about Ima and Ura Hogg.
This is the real story of Ima Hogg, a young girl growing up in Texas with her three brothers in the late 1800s. Ura is not real. Ima, the daughter of a Texas govenor, was an important leader in early Texas, contributing time and funds to the arts, science, and historic preservation. The historic Varner-Hogg plantation is located in West Columbia Tx just a few minutes from my home.

In Like a Lamb Out Like a Lion: The Story of John Buffum
Published in Hardcover by Tabby House (January, 1994)
Author: Tom Grimshaw
Amazon base price: $19.95

Buffum is still the Lion
As one of the few Pro Rally fanatics in the U.S., I have followed John Buffum's rallying exploits since the early 1970s. This book provides excellent coverage of JB's activity, event by event, as well as providing history on the sport in general.

Tom Grimshaw can tell a story with the best of them, and much of this story comes from his memories of those rallies as he was there, co-driving for John and for other top drivers of the 1970s and 1980s. This is a must read for anyone who wants to know about the history of the SCCA Pro Rally series and competing series in the U.S., and the man who is undoubtedly the finest rally driver ever produced in America.

The BEST book on John Buffum and the SCCA PRO Rally History
I really enjoyed this book. Being new to SCCA PRO Rally, I found the history of PRO Rally to be very interesting. Of course, who can get enough stories about John Buffum???

Secrets unlocked
What a revelation! We have been told for years that our mind harnesses the power to overcome all. In Ross and Ronn's book, these principles are succinctly laid out with techniques and exercises directly related to race driving. I recognized many situations in my own racing and have used their exercises to improve my performance and confidence on the race track. This book is a must read for anyone in racing (or in life)who wants to ensure consistency. For those who think racing is all guts - you are missing the boat (or shall I say the checkered flag) by not reading this book! PS - They also have a wonderful seminar too!

Jeff Gordon
This is a beautiful book for fans of NASCAR and esp. fans of Jeff Gordon. It is well written and the photography is very outstanding. It would be a great addition to any library.

A great book for people who dont know much about Jeff Gordon
It is not a large book by any means, but it does roughly go over Jeff Gordons racing career, starting from the age of five up until his 1998 Winston Cup Championship. It's great for people who have little knowledge about Jeff's life on and off the track, and it's also a fine book for people who like full color photos. If you live in an area like I do where Nascar is not really considered a sport and you have heard of the name Jeff Gordon, and you would like to know more about him, try this book.
