Good book for teenagers, coaches and parents
This is book that is good for serious sailors and their coaches. It is thorough and probably the best overall racing guidebook for optimist sailing. It's well written but so stuffed with information that it's a book to read over and over again.

For a younger audience the "The WINNER'S GUIDE TO OPTIMIST SAILING" is better. That one is not quite as comprehensive but is also well written and with substatial information. It's a book the children could read on their own.

If these were only translated to finnish it would be perfect...

Great book for anyone, not only opti sailors
I bought this book to help me teach an advanced opti race team, and when I got the book I was surprised how helpful it was, it goes over multiple approches of sailign the opti plus alot of useful information that can be applied to any boat. it has great illistrations and simple to follow explinations that explian advanced tactics and sail trim. GREAT BOOK.

This book is for ALL horse lovers of any age.
This book and all others in her collection are the greatest series for horse lovers. And the books cover far more than just horses and riding. They cover the long span between horse, rider, friendship, helpfulness, and knowledge. This book is for anyone who just wants to learn something new in each book.

Can a simple picture mean so much?
I loved this book. When The Saddle club go to the race track, Lisa finds it a great opportunity to practice being a photographer, until a picture she took could solve a mystery! Will The Saddle club get caught before they could tell anyone, or will they solve another mystery at the race track.

A great reference
I build scale model cars and this book is a great reference tool. It covers all of Porsche's racing cars of the '60s leading toward the development of the 917 and recounts all the roadblocks and pitfalls along the way. People who are not saavy about the real world of large-stakes motorsport can be surprised to learn about how much rule-bending goes on. "Unfair advantages" are aggressiviely sought through research and experimentation. An interesting aspect of the 917 is much refinement and modification was needed to turn this complicated and dangerous car into a successful racer.

Porsche 917: The Winning Formula
"Porsche 917: The Winning Formula" traces the history of the engineering and development of the Porsche 917, from its origins as a challenger to Ferrari through victory at LeMans and onto the later development of the all-conquering Can Am Porsche 917-30. Morgan uses interviews with those most closely tied to the project development and provides insights far beyond the typical photo-history and race history books. This is one of the best written, best researched and most enjoyable books of its type I have read in a long time. Highly recommended.

Excellent Book
This is a must have book if you own a Porsche or dream of owning one. The quality of the photos are excellent and the text is adequate (not too much noise). The book traces the history of the first turbo to the current 996 version. There are some very interesting biograhies of some of the engineers who were/are directly responsible for the development of the machine. A very good book to read over and over again because there are just enough words there to be informative and not too much to put you to sleep.

Excellent book for Turbo lovers!
This book is a design history of the current 996 Twin-Turbo. It traces the evolution of the design from the 934 & 935 race cars, through the 930, 959, 964, and 993 turbos. The majority of the book deals with the design of the entire 996 Turbo and includes some of the original drawings of the car. Interviews with several of the designers of various systems of the 996 Turbo are included. Stunning photography complements the thorough text. An absolute must for anyone who has or loves the Porsche Turbos. Highly recommended.

Amazing Photographs and Interesting Stories
The first thing the reader will see upon opening this book is the amazing photographs taken by Kinrade. But a closer inspection lets you know that this is much more than just a picture book. Each subject's story is extremely well written and insightful and shows how many people are involved in making Winston Cup racing the success that it is today. Evidence of how well the subjects were chosen is shown by the array of drivers profiled in the book. The author chose a retired superstar (Richard Petty), a seasoned veteran (Bill Elliott), an up-and-coming star (Bobby Labonte) and a rookie (Buckshot Jones) to show the differences among drivers in various states of their careers. But the driver profiles aren't even the most interesting stories in the book. Very few people understand the complexity of preparing for an event as large as a Winston Cup race and the author shows this well with the other profiles in the book. Someone has to be responsible for the ticketing of more than 100,000 spectators attending an event and the profile on Frances Goss shows just how this is accomplished. Myra Falkenbury's story shows just how tough it is to supply credentials to the 12,000-14,000 additional media, sponsors and workers attending an event. One of the more interesting stories is that of David Carmichael, who has created a place for himself in the world of Winston Cup racing by cleaning the wheels of haulers and motorhomes in the Winston Cup garage. Each of the more than 30 profiles digs deep into the jobs and personal lives of people that you may or may not have even known were involved in making the Winston Cup Series such a success. This book is a must have for the novice and the long-time Winston Cup fan.

Very Interesting
Read about some of the famous and obscure personalities in NASCAR. First time I had ever heard about Bobby Labonte having Graves Disease. Very interesting stories and fun too.
