Jeff Gordon: Racing's SuperstarBiography of Jeff Gordon, who excelled in car racing at a young age and is currently considered a leader in the sport. His story is one of not quitting, even when the odds are against you. When he ws 4 years old, his stepdad threatened to take away his two wheeler if he could not master riding without training wheels, so he practiced all day and when his stepdad returned, he could ride. Later, when he startted racing, he was underage for many races, so he tried to look older by using eyebrow pencil on his mustache in order to compete. Eventually his family moved to the midwest where there were no age barriers for races, so he could regularly compete. Besides being an excellent racer, he is a positive role model to youth, giving much of his earnings to charities. Includes photographs, glossary, index, and bibliography.

Jim Clark RememberedGraham Gauld was a personal friend of Jim Clark, who was probably the second best race-car driver of all-time (only Mario Andretti was better in my opinion). Jim Clark won the 1965 Indianapolis 500 and the 1963 and 1965 Formula 1 World Championships while driving for Colin Chapman and the Lotus team. Jim is also the first driver to win the Indianapolis 500 with a rear-engine race car. I have three of Graham Gauld's book including "Jim Clark: The Legend Lives On", "Jim Clark Remembered" and Jim Clark: Portrait of a Great Driver". All three books rate as 5-star books in my opinion. If you like the glory days of the Indianapolis 500 or the Formula 1 World Championship, you will love these 3 books. My oldest son is named after Jim Clark.

Not too shabby but good information on sled dogging. This is a good book to read if you don't know about sled dogs or if you want more information. It's not the best book in the world but it is packed with tons of information on running sled dogs. I know the title sounds kind of joyful but this is the book for the serious minded beginning dog sledder.

The way horse racing was meant to beThis beautiful leather-bound book celebrates the "sport of kings" at one of the sport's most inspirational settings. Keeneland, the track located near Lexington, Kentucky in the heart of the Bluegrass horse country, was built in 1936. Now a National Historic Landmark, the track complex represents a racing venue unparalleled for beauty and class. William Strode's photographs, Peter Williams's paintings, and Billy Reed's narrative text present the track in all of its splendor and pageantry. Readers wishing to understand Kentucky will cherish this treasure.

The book was informative but had bad photographs. The Lancia is a great Rally Car, as illustrated in this magnificent piece of literature from the author. Although the photos weren't really my bag, baby, I am a great fan of the Italian car.
