rebel with a causebefore you can race the sunset, you first need to get a jump on dawn, and mr. san diego has been racing the rosy-fingered hues of early mornings for two decades as he defined, shaped, sculpted this athletic calling now known as triathlon. as the founder of tri-athlete magazine, i used to resent the fact that this bona-fide beach boy with cornflower silk hair and chiseled bod knew how to write--and write well. "jocks" shouldn't be known as true authors. tinley, the man he describes in this heartfelt confessional memoir, is still testing himself against seen and unseen obstacles. the memoir is both a trip down memory lane in the aero tucked position and a homage to the retired jock syndrome (rjs). every athlete must face that time in his or her life when age takes its toll. but that is not a call for surrender. tinley doesn't go DNF on us. nor does he want to. his writing the book was an act of courage--a private correspondence with a very public self.

Wow, and Wow and Wow a GREAT BOOK !If you ever wondered how we got to modern horse racing from the past, and who was famous in the past, then this is a MUST HAVE Book for your coffee table or library.
I almost cried when I read about Ruffian, and I remembered her tragic spill in the famous male/female match race with Foolish Pleasure. I was a child at a family friend's house and it was dark and raining, and the beautiful Ruffian went to the lead and then tragically fell sending her into immortal status.
The John Henry story is a book possible all by itself.
A great job by Mark and Mary Simon, I was very impressed and I'm in the business.

Excellent Satire on Media MonopoliesRACING THROUGH THE TIMES is an excellent young adult novel about how one person can control the collective thought of a country's citizens with the right media control. In this book, the 2nd in the Lightbringer Series by Ron DeBoer, Sarah and Dillon, a brother and sister, travel into a newspaper they find in their basement. To their surprise, they find out they can move forward and backward in history and can change world events! The villain is Comrad Zwart, who I think is a parody on Canadian newspaper baron Conrad Black, who is trying to buy up all the world's newspapers and re-name them The Times. Like the first novel in the Lightbringer Series--Returning Light to the Wind--this novel contains an interesting quest, many obstacles, and more importantly, key pieces to the puzzle Sarah and Dillon begain with their first adventure. The Lightbringer books are very much patterned after C.S. Lewis' Narnia Chronicles. Racing Through the Times seems like a contemporary Magician's Nephew when the characters put on rings and end up in an in-between place before going off to interesting worlds. In Racing Through the Times, every time Sarah and Dillon plunge into a new paper, they find themselves on a mountain, looking into the valley where the new world exists like a city. I found a website on the Internet which gives sample chapters--just do a search on Wiindmill Press and go to the sample chapters page.

A MUST READ FOR EVERY ONE!I really think this book is "right on the money" in "end time" facts. From the first introduction of UPC codes, I KNEW we would be on a fast track to receiving the Mark of the Beast. This book explains what has been happening and what we can expect before Christ's comes for His church. It is wonderful to know that THOUGH, we as Christians can read about this, we will actually be GONE before a decision will be made to worship the Beast and take his mark..... HIGHLY recommend reading !!!

Reutemann, el ConductorI would like keep this book very much. Thanks.I.H.
The topics covered range from team building to actual techniques and maneuvers, as well as advice for specific situations such as sail changes etc.
Although this book is not exhaustive by any means, it is food for thought on a large number of issues. It will certainly whet one's appitite to learn more.
After all it's not every day the you hear a renowned skipper like Mike Golding recommending you carry reference books with you and use them, which is what he admits to doing.Which books - I'll give you a clue - try chapter 7of Mike's book!
