Must-have book for any serious memorabilia collector
All of Carl Hungness' Indianapolis 500 or Brickyard 400 yearbooks should be considered as must-have books for any serious memorabilia collector. These books are invaluable to my collection. The photgraphs are superb in all of the books.

Comprehensive reference
This is the book to have if you want to look up quickly who won what, where and when. There are, however, some downsides: Firstly, it contains quite a number of embarrassing mistakes going way beyond simple typos which maybe isn't that surprising considering all the info; but it took me only a couple of hours to stop counting the most obvious mistakes which devalues it quite a bit! Secondly, and that's really annoying, it doesn't have any sort of index or even a table of contents that refers to page numbers! And thirdly, it's a little bit too expensive. But then again, you won't find that amount of information anywhere else...

The Anatomy & Development of the Formula Ford Race Car
Formula Fords were the starting class for a lot of famous race car drivers including Michael Andretti. This book covers Formula Ford from 1968 to 1992. Not much as changed on Formula Ford (except Formula Ford 2000 cars have front and rear wings) and yes there is still Formula Fords racing in SCCA competition. Been there, done that!

Comprehensive technical review of F1 cars and engines.
I read this book back in 1995. Sal Incandela presents a well-researched account of the technical developments which occured from the 1975 season until about the mid-eighties. The text is written for those with an interest in the engineering aspects of race car development. It is suitable for enthusiasts who do not have any formal engineering or technical education. The information presented is quite detailed, but is not sufficient to actually design a winning F1 race car with

Contains some great historic photos and illustrations!
This book contains the only cut-away illustration of the famous Moto Guzzi V8 that I've ever seen. I was also impressed with the amout of historic photos used to show the progress and path of GP motocycle development. The only area I felt the book was lacking was current development. Very little current technology, other than Honda's big-bang engine were mentioned. All in all though, the book is well worth the reading.

Anatomy and Development of the Indy Race Car
This shows the evolution of the Indy Car (including CART Championship Cars) up to 1993. This is a good reference book. In 1996, CART boycotted the Indianapolis 500, but from 1979 to 1995, CART and the Indianapolis 500 used the same cars.

The Source!
Having collected auto racing memorabilia for years I have often wondered why someone hasn't come out with a definitive resource. Well, here it is! While it is very small in size it is not short on value. Covering everyting from driver profiles to open wheel racing this is the ultimate source. It's a shame that it gets buried on the book shelf because of its size, but good things really do come in small packages! Outstanding!

Great for the enthusiast
If you want to know exactly what happened in the garages, this is the ultimate resource. Far too dense for the casual fan, and full of British Dullness -- when you see the phrase "poor Smythe-Warrington," you know it will be followed by "smote the banking at Grickles, killing himself and four nuns, and ending the service life of chassis 73/01."

Having said that, I must also say that I have read and referred to my copy so many times that the binding is destroyed and I am looking for an undamaged copy.
