Red and Wonderful
This well-written, well-drawn book is so amazing that a reveiewer must be careful what to write, because you could actually write spoilers about this book--it's so amazing! Speaking as a cat-lover, I love this book!! Basset has given us the ideal boy and dog, but placed them in our real world. Nearly every strip provides a funny moment, where the reader might laugh out loud, but there are also poignant moments and depth of personalities. In short, nothing this good has happened to comic strip entertainment since that Round-Headed Kid.

Red & Rover
Red & Rover will bring back treasured memories of time spent with your own 4 legged friend. Red & Rover is to the love felt between "Man" & his true best friend as Diblert is to the business world. The stories are for all ages (0-99). Rover is a cross between lassie, snoopy, and rin-tin-tin. If you are a reader of the series you should get this book. If you have not read the series you will start reading it after reading this book and become a fan. This book provides the first meeting betweed Red and Rover. I have purchased 3 copies: one to read, one to save, and one to loan. After reading this book you will be hooked and look at your current coompanion with more understanding.

My only wish is that all the strips would be published.

Red and Rover
Red and Rover displays the love between a boy and his best friend. One of the best comic strip books I've ever read. I recommend it to anyone.

Dogs Deserve Dialogue...by Judy Moore
I have read Judy's book, seen her video, met her when she came to Milwaukee in 2001 to work with two dogs, and this year in May 2002 when she gave a wonderful presentation at the Wisconsin Humane Society talking about some of her successes which are also mentioned in her book. She did a live demonstration and as a volunteer at the facility, I received so much positive feedback from attendees. The book has helped friends of mine who recently acquired dogs and one person in particular refers to Judy's book as his "bible" when working with his dog. As a dog walker, Judy's book has helped me work with the dogs I walk at the shelter. The book is so worthwhile to every dog owner, both new and those who have had dogs, and this book should be associated on Amazon with other dog-related books (whether training or pleasure reading).
Thank you.

This is an exceptional book.
DOGS DESERVE DIALOGUE & Judy Moore's Video are exceptional and truly in the dog's language. Our German shepherd had been kept in a little kennel for breeding. They had two other dogs that were allowed in the house and car. We were given Jazmine at 3 1/2 years old. She hated dogs and people and was unmanagable. She was excellent in every other way. We have 11 dog books and none of that training helped us. We got Judy's book and tape and started working with her. Jazmine had to have a serious surgery and was quite ill for a month. Judy wrote us an email and asked how we were doing. We were very discouraged. With Judy's encouragement we started training again. Immediately, Jazmine picked up where we left off. She would behave responsibility with constant praise. This would have been impossible without Judy's book and tape. Judy Moore is an exceptional person, gives generous help and support, and is constantly wanting to help all animals. This is the only dog book you need for training. We suggest you get the tape as it is quite helpful. The dogs learn very quickly and without being stressed.

Dogs Deserve Dialogue
I own a very high spirited dog. When I first started walking him as a young puppy, we were both attacked several times by dogs that were not on leashes. Because of this, my dog has what I can only call Social anxiety. He is frightened of any new experience. Instead of cowering, he became aggressive. I have trained dogs using a variety of methods over the years, but only this book was able to help me help my dog. It inspired me to also join Judy in a weekend training session. Between the book, the video and Judy's help, my dog is able to handle his fears and even overcome some of them. It is not a quick fix, it requires a relationship with your dog. The work is gratifying and you will not believe what a wonderful dog you own!

Enough detail to be interesting; coherently written
I read this book on the 'plane from Seattle to Chicago a week or so ago. Given the period '89-'98 that the book covers, I was pleasantly surprised to see the included material on project 'Tempest' (Discovery II) released in 1999.

The author clearly had personal contact with many of the Landrover engineers and project staff for all three Discovery projects, and this added immensely to the value.

Much of the material is apparently leveraged from earlier magazine articles which likely helped it be factually accurate based on Land Rover staff available when the article was first published.

Thoroughly recommended for the Land Rover fan.

A Classic
It is about the "old" Discovery (1989-1998) and James Taylor is probably the best person to tell us the story of this great vehicle. Every Discovery owner must have a copy of this book to understand the project evolution since 1989, with good information about its changes along those years (engines, gear boxes, electronics etc). There are good tips for those who want to buy a good second hand Discovery. In the end, Taylor describes the "New Discovery" project launched in 1999.

Great info for Disco owners
If you own a Discovery, irrespective of the country you are in, you will get a lot of info from this book. The Author has researched it well, and covers all the issues I wanted to know about my vehicle. Some of the photos are great, I esp. like the convertible model - a shame they were never put that one into production - I want one of those! This is not a technical manual as such, but it still has a lot of facts & figures. It is also helpful if you are considering options from other models and want to see what they look like. I have an ES model, but would like to get the factory wheel arch flares, and I know what they would look like... Recommended for a Discovery or Land Rover enthusiast, or if you intend to purchase one and want to do your research.

this book is one of best that i have read
yo quiero tener este libro en español. este libro se llama originalmente the jacket, en español la camisa de fuerza.

I want have this book in spanish , too can produce a good traduction.

All time great book!
I read this book many years ago and it has stuck in my mind as one of the greatest books I have ever read. It is very different from most of London's books, but I think one of his best. It is truly an original idea and its contents will stay with you for a long time. It is also a great adventure novel!

London's beliefs about dreaming, freedom and redemption
It makes me very sad that only a few people knows about this book. It tells the story of a man who finds himself in prison. He is trapped in a madman's shirt, in order to confess facts he knew nothing about. Obliged to pass days and nights without being able to move a single muscle, living in complete darkness inside special punishment cells, he manages to avoid getting nuts and yet bravely resists his tortures' will. Developing a way of traveling with his mind, he escapes from all human suffering and still has the chance to watch his actions of past lives, finally understanding how most of his present beliefs and flaws had been built. This is a tale about FREEDOM and REDEMPTION! It makes you firmly believe that free spirits are unbeatable and that we can dream no matter how life is. For anybody who is familiar with London's deep feelings about life and dreaming and freedom, I must say that this is his best book ever. A glimpse of the deepest beliefs of a great writer who left us so soon. A MUST!!!

Night-Vision: Illuminating War and Class on the Neo-Colonial Terrain

from Preface to Night-Vision
from Preface to Night-Vision
The transformation to a neo-colonial world has only begun, but it promises to be as dramatic, as disorienting a change as was the original european conquest of the human race. Capitalism
is again ripping apart & reconstructing the world, and nothing will be the same. Not race, not nation, not gender, and certainly not whatever culture you used to have.
Now you have outcast groups as diverse as the Aryan Nation and the Queer Nation and the Hip Hop Nation publicly rejecting the right of the u.s. government to rule them...
All the building blocks of human culture - race, gender, nation, and especially class - are being transformed under great pressure to embody the spirit of this neo-colonial age.

fun and revolutionary
This book is a quick jaunt through recent (i.e.-late 80's/early 90's) US autonomist political theory and action. I believe the correct subtitle is "illuminating race and class..." (not "war"). If you want to understand the way some of those "black-block" participants and "crazy kids" who had such a swell time in Seattle and Washington see the world, 'Night-Vision' is a good place to start.

Travel Vicariously and Choose Your Next Destination
I loved this book! The author shares short essays of his adventures all over the world in a very interesting and exciting manner. He tells of his amazing climbs up huge mountains and his awe at the beauty of nature. He has done some incredible things, but he always speaks in a modest voice which shows his respect for and interest in the people and the nature of each country.

I wanted each piece to continue longer. I would get engrossed and want to hear more about each adventure. I am an avid traveler, but due to kid responsibilities I can't travel as much these days. I found that I could curl up with this book and travel vicariously with the author.

Mr. Letemendia also gave me the opportunity to learn about the history and geography of the various countries he visited. I realized that I know about North American history, but not as much about South American history...so I learned a lot in this book. And it's in the perfect format. If I were given a history
book I wouldn't read it, but since it's couched in a travel book I am entranced.

I didn't want to put this book down. I anxiously await his next books.

P.S. The English translations were flawless and beautifully written!

Humphrey of the Rovers
This is the third book in a series of four about the lovable Humphrey and Bird. The others are: Humphrey the Hippo, Humphrey's New Trousers, and Humphrey Goes to the Ball.

In this Humphrey book Bird decides that Humphrey is getting too fat. "I can still fit through the door sideways" complains Humphrey. So Humphrey and Bird decide to go for a walk in the park as today's exercise. When they get to the playground Humphrey has trouble. He can't fit on the swings, or on the roundabout, and is too fat for the slide. Then he finds a soccer ball. (Note: the book says football but means soccer ball. This book was written in UK where a soccer ball is called a football.) When a little girl comes up to ask if she can have the ball back, Humphrey asks if he can play. The girl agrees, and Humphrey gets to guard the goal.

After a full afternoon of playing soccer with the kids, giving piggy-back rides, and rolling in the mud Humphrey comments to bird that "I feel much fitter now, Bird" Bird, being the practical one, replies, "You look it, Humphrey. And you'll look even better when you've had a bath."

Like the other three in this series, this book is told in a straightforward manner that I really enjoy. The pictures are bold, colorful, bright, and playful. It is a wonderful book.

Essential for any Series III Owner
Pretty much essential for any Series III owner, who does some of his/her own maintenance.

Not only does it show how the various bits go together in clear airfix-style exploded diagrams, the part numbers are extremely useful when ordering new parts. For a start you have a chance of getting what you ordered from your supplier.
