Siempre he admirado al SR.Garcia Marquez por que posee la gran habilidad de crear personajes con emociones y sentimientos muy fuertes,esta historia refleja la falta de afecto y el exceso de avaricia y egoismo de la abuela de candida erendira,la historia realmente es impresionante,Candira Erendira es un reflejo de inocensia marcada,actua como su abuela le ordena, en toda la historia ella es maltratada y siente la necesidad de librarse de su abuela pero apesar del miedo, evita la traicion,en fin es una esclva de la maldad, del abuso, del egoismo y la avaricia de su abuela, COMO MUCHAS VECES EN NUESTRAS VIDAS EN LAS CUALES EL MIEDO NOS LLEVA DE LA MANO A LOCURA Y LA MALDAD SE ENCARGA DE QUE SEAMOS AMANTES DE CUALQUIER CRUELDAD,Tal como se presenta en la historia, recomiendo este libro al igual que cualquier libro escrito por este buen escritor y como siempre con su estilo narrativo e interesante en fin si t gusta el realismo, una pisca de tristeza y la maldad que puede existir en un ser ,leelo

I really liked this book, not only because it is very well written, but also because it explains quite clearly how the intelectual influence of political ideas can help change the real world.

Botana quotes Sarmiento, who trying to explain how ideas are born said that "in the spirit of those who study happens what occurs in river flods, when the passing water deposites little by little the solid particles that it brings diluted and fertilizes the soil". Natalio Botana explains to us that the history of political ideas is an horizon that opens before us, at the same time that keeps a legacy of ideas, previous disquisitions on the nature of power and obedience.

In "La tradición republicana" (The republican tradition) Botana tries to show us the intelectual biography of Alberdi and Sarmiento, two men that played a very important role in the building of Argentina as a nation. That is the reason why he explains us the ideas of the most important influences on those two men, whose task would be to try the republican ideals in a new country that totally lacked traditions of a political kind.

Botana mentions and studies Montesquieu, Rousseau, Adam Smith and Tocqueville, among others. That is why this book can also be used to study the history of political ideas. But I believe its deepest value lays in the fact that it delves on how difficult it was for those two men who were between exile and power, and intent on their mission to find the grounds for future legitimacy for their country, to articulate the abstract ideas they cherished with their everyday reality.

So, the dialogue between the horizon of ideas and circumstances is the theme of this book. Even if it talks a lot about Argentina, what we learn while we read it can be applied to other situations. And, truth to be told, it is a pleasure to read a book in which the prose is so fluent and elegant. On the whole my recommendation is: read it --> you won't have regrets.

Este libro ofrece un utilísimo recuento de hechos ligados al reciente auge en la entrada de capitales hacia América Latina, abarcando tanto las relaciones macroeconómicas como los aspectos específicos del sector financiero. Los trabajos se ven enriquecidos por comentarios de reconocidos expertos en la formulación de políticas y destacados participantes del sector privado en los mercados de capital. La novedad e interés de sus planteamientos e información son más que suficientes para motivar e inspirar un buen número de disertaciones doctorales de primer nivel. Sin duda una obra de lectura obligatoria en los cursos de finanzas internacionales.

A friend of mine bought this book and it was much admired by all who saw it. If you or somebody you know enjoy Las Vegas History this book will be apprecieated. Many pictures of Vegas from the sixties till now.

Lilly is a great little mouse who loves school, her teacher and as it turns out- sharing. But she has trouble waiting. This is a great book about when kids get angry and the consequences. The pictures are great too! Although I have not read the Spanish version, we are going to have our daughter's teacher read this into a tape recorder so she can hear it from a native speaker.

Six women team up to bring you an anthology that shows remarkable talent and breadth of topic. The author's of Love Sizzles prove that the art of the short story lives and in a most appealing romantic compilation as you'll ever hope to read.

Carolee Joy's "Caught in a Masquerade," has twists and turns that rival most mysteries. Then again she surprises the read in "Satin and Lacey" her second in this anthology is the wife having an affair? Her husband is prepared to find out, but not for what he does find out. More twists at the capable hands of Ms. Joy.

Tami Cowden takes us on a walk in "Passions Garden" with peeks into the characters minds that make us want to shake them to wake them to each others fantasies. Cowden knows how to keep the reader bound to the page, an enjoyable read and a sensuous look at dreaming and familiarity coming together to spark romance.

Su Kopil tugs at our heart strings when a little boy is being pulled apart by divorce. He helps to draw happiness and fulfillment into his mother's life and his own, with Kopil's touching romantic story "Love is in the Air," as much about parental love as romantic love.

Did you ever stick your foot in your mouth and wish you could bury your embarrassment. Susan D Brooks' protagonist in "Home Run Hearts," seems to have a knack for putting feet, socks and all in her mouth. Watching her wriggle out of the mess she created is half the fun of this piece.

Betsy Norman, in "Stay with Me," plays the opposite end of the spectrum when not saying enough is as bad as saying too much was in the story before. A two week singles cruise provides plenty of chances that some people nearly miss taking.

One of my favorites is the strong female protagonist in "Summer Fire". Madi Ryan Lee pulls the read into a major burn, right along with P.C. Martin as she battles a fire that could cost her, her life and that of some of her crew. You can feel the heat of the fire as well as the sizzle of love that burns in her mind. Talk about burning a candle at both ends, this story has a blaze at both ends that we hope will work out safely when it meets in the middle.

I could go on with each story in this anthology in turn. They are all tethered with the thread of romance. Some a little steamier than others, but the story plot is always excellent. The romance is proof that romance writers and short story writers can and do write some of he best reading around. On a scale of 1 to 10, Love Sizzles gets a powerful, over the top 10 and high recommendations. Read it -you'll agree guaranteed.

My kids are a bit familiar with this story already, because we live in Hong Kong and have seen parts of the series on TV and because they've also read parts of it extremely abdridged in Chinese "comic book" form.

They (aged 7 and 5) loved this book. It is written in clear English, that nonetheless gives a feel for the names amd action of the characters. It is abridged enough so the kids don't get bored, but is complete enough to be faithful to the full-length novel. We just finished reading it aloud 5 days ago and the kids REALLY wanted to know what happens next.

Unfortunetely, the second installment of the story is not yet published. So, my family is now waiting impatiently for the next bit.

The only thing that could be better were the illustrations. They were small and in black and white. While I know that making the book larger and with color illustrations would have made it more expensive, I would have been willing to pay for it.

Excellent book.

It is a great book. It helps us to understand why others and ourselves behave and react so different in the same situations in life. By pointing out our weakness as well as our strenghts, it helps us to be aware that most of our weakness have to do with our temperament. Besides, it clarifies that many of the attributes of others are natural in them and that we can't change that but certainly we can do a lot in improving our temeperament. I would recomment this book to anybody. It's a gra book.

I read this book as a fill in between two novels, and the book is clear and concise in what it's trying to publicise. The main feature, as you might expect, is Mildenhall AFB, the home of UK AF logistics and refuelling etc. The writer details how Mildenhall isn't just like that though: SR71s etc used to lye hidden in the depths of the place. This book, though with not alot of writing, is concise, and is a fantastic read if you just wanna be there for yourself and not read page after page. Well done Osprey! Yet another fantastic Superbase!

I was so happy to find that Amazon.com had this tape in stock. I loaned our original copy to a friend and have never gotten it back. (I don't blame my friend!) Michele Valeri and her ensemble have put together a rollicking, narrative journey through much of Latin America, using little skits (I believe in her live act she used puppets for some characters) and original songs with a Latin beat. She sings in English and Spanish, jumping from one language to another, but always in a way that helps English-speaking children understand the meaning of the Spanish phrases from their context or her explanation. For example, the title track's chorus goes: "Mi casa es su casa [my house is your house], Whenever you are here, Mi casa es su casa, Sit down and rest my dear." My children had more fun listening to this tape. And as they got older, it even kept a carpool of 5 young boys absorbed on a 15-minute ride to school for days at a time! I can't recommend this gentle, fun, musical journey "south of the border" highly enough for all kids, not just those studying Spanish or kids (like 2 of mine) who came to us from Latin American countries speaking Spanish, and had to make a transition from one language to another.
