Five Stars... what do you expect? It's my book!
I'm sure this review won't be very persuasive being that it's coming from the author. I can assure you, dear prospective reader, that this was no half-hearted effort. I poured a tremendous amount of time and energy into this book; it took me about one year to write the text and develop all of the line art. Kudos to Dan Kennedy and his staff at Whitehorse Press for the editing and layout. They appearance of the book is absolutely first rate, and I'm proud that the book is the first one by Whitehorse Press to be done in full color from cover to cover.

As far as I know, this is the first book to detail the methods and technology of automotive and motorcycle plastic repair for the layman. It builds on my eight years of experience as technical support director for Urethane Supply Company, a leading manufacturer of plastic repair and refinishing products for the automotive collision repair industry.

This is a great book for the do-it-yourselfer who wants to do some repair or restoration work to his own vehicle. It would also be a great study guide for the collision repair technician who would like to broaden his skills base and create a source for additional revenue. The book only assumes that you have an interest and desire to save money by repairing your own plastic parts.

I think there's a very good chance that, if you choose to buy this book, you'll save the purchase price of the book with your very first repair and that you'll build skills that will save you much more money in the long run. If you have any questions about the book, please e-mail me at kurt@urethanesupply.com. Enjoy!

Illustrated Ski-Doo Snowmobile Buyer's Guide
I'am just a kid as some people say , But I know a good book when I see one. This book:Illustrated Ski-Doo Snowmobile Buyer's Guide (Illustrated Buyers Guide) by Philip J. Mickelson, was a fascinating look at the beginning of J.A. Bombardier's perfected invention, all the way to the new super fast snowmachines that we see today. I wish this book was still in print so I could get a copy of it.

Rebuilt '95 XLT
I bought this book several years ago for a 1990 Indy 500. Over the years i've went through three sleds. This book helps even the clumsiest mechanic feel like there is nothing they can't fix.

Get it greasey!!
I bought this book for my husband for Christmas so he could rebuild the suspension on his own. He loves this book...it is his Bible. Excellent, detailed descriptions for ALL maintenance on your Polaris sled!

Snowmobiling
I can usually find some, if not a lot of value in most books I read. But honestly, this book has no redeeming value whatsoever. It's descriptions and advice were so brief and incomplete that I think it could actually be dangerous. I would beg any reader that needed any valuable info on snowmobiles, riding technique, accessories, etc., to look elsewhere. You won't regret it, and it may actually save your life.

Learn more about North America's fastest growing sport
Want to learn more about North America's fastest growing winter sport? Need a refresher course on the safe operation of your machine? Or are you tired of getting your sled stuck and spending all day getting it out? Then a new book from the father and son team of Dave and James Hallam called, Snowmobiling - For trail Riding and Mountain Riders, is the handbook for you. This self published book by Fun On Snow Publications is proving to be an indespensable manual that both experienced and novice snowmobilers will find to be an excellent resource. The Hallams have over 44 years of combined experience, so they know of what they speak. "I see so many people starting out in snowmobiling that simply don't really know where to start," stated Dave Hallam from his home in Abbotsford. "So we've designed this book with a strong safety message. A new rider needs to be cautious. They need to learn to enjoy the outdoor experience but also have a healthy respect fro winter's harsh elements." Hallam believes that experienced riders will benefit from their handbook as well. He says,"We all require this kind of solid, basic information because knowledge will always safeguard a snowmobiler. We all want to get out and enjoy the wonderful sport of sledding but at the same time we have to be careful not to get caught up in just the performance aspect of today's high powered machines." This informative book is much more than just a "tips" book. It is written in a clear, easy-to-read style that discusses important subjects such as emergency first aid, avalanche awareness, easy steering setup, how to get unstuck the easy way, focuses on both trail and mountain riding, trouble shooting and much, much more. Over the years Dave and James Hallam have logged thousands of miles on the trails. They believe it is time to give back something to the sport that has brought so much enjoyment over the years.

Invaluable tool for all snowmobilers!!!
A very easy book to read and comprehend. It is jam packed full of extremely useful tips. We particularly enjoyed the chapters Troubleshooting and Miscellaneous. The authors have really covered it all.

Good, but not great, business history
Strengths of The Bombardier Story:
* Comprehensive, but non-controversial, chronology of company from J.A. Bombardier's Quebec garage to an international conglomerate
* Complete review of the company's entry into snowmobiles, trains, and aerospace
* Straight-forward analysis of strengths and weaknesses of the company looking forward to the market challenges of future years

Weaknesses:
* Even though the author writes early in the book that he will explain some of the company's innovative management methods, these parts come up short. The explanations of the Bombardier Management System and the employee-centric culture do not give the reader a lot of information that could easily transfer to their own businesses
* While I know little of the company's history beyond this book, I do believe that some of the less flattering portions of the company's history are played down or left out. This would include the company's investment in, then quiet exit from, the 100+-seat commercial jet business.

Recommended for those interested specifically in Bombardier's history or as a secondary reference for those interested in the business of recreational machines, trains, or civil aircraft.

Only 2 sleds!!!
There were a lot more sleds in 88 and 89 than 2. I was disappointed not to see my '88 Eltigre' 6000 in the pages. This is an all out shop manual for the '88 and '89 Wildcat 650 and the '89 Eltigre' EXT. It covers everything really well. I see that amazon has added the Clymer to the title now which helps identify what it is. When I ordered it there was no info on the book, so I hope this helps some.

Editor must have been asleep.
I knew there was a problem when I found that the index shows chapter 7 as "GM V6 and V8 Engines"! Chapter 8 is shown to be "Ford V8 Engines" and chapter 13 as "Lower Gearcase (1964-1977)! Jumping from automotive to marine, chapter 12 is labled as "Stern Drive Removal, Installation and Upper Gearcase Overhaul"! The book is actually about only 3 models of Yamaha Snowmobiles, (not all inclusive as the cover suggests) but errors abound. Laughable, AND THIS IS THE FIFTH PRINTING!!!

Had what I needed and a lot of what I did not.
I rented this book from the local library and found the information in it usefull, but it had a lot of information that I did not need. In some areas it is so details that it drives you nuts and in others the information is missing or wrong.

Save your money and buy the yamaha official manual
This book I've heard is copied from the yamaha OEM shop manual. And they leave many things out of it that you are left to guess what they mean. But they do have diagrams and photos that the OEM doesn't have.

Service Manual (Snowmobile Service Manual, 11th Ed)
I was dissapointed with this manual. The book was abbreviated way too much for a service manual and concentrated too much on information that was readily available. If you are into restoring older snowmobiles then this book cannot be a sole source. It must be companioned with other references on the repair of snowmobiles.
