A book for true lovers of cowbay poetry
All I can say is that I loved the collection of poetry and information. This is true Americana and should be required in our schools. Good Job!

Cracking the Language Code: German
Published in Paperback by Templegate Pub (October, 1982)
Author: Stanley Rundle
Amazon base price: $19.95
Used price: $15.34
Average review score:

a great way to develop reading knowledge of the language
This is one of the most fascinating language books I have read. Rundle's goal is to develop reading knowledge, as distinct from writing, speaking, and verbal comprehension. His hypothesis is that European languages are sufficiently similar that, with a few rules and occasional resort to the dictionary, you can quickly learn to puzzle out written material. Along the way, he has a great romp through linguistic history. Highly recommended.

The cutting edge on addiction technology
This book is a must for anyone who wants to understand the physiological process involved in addiction and compulsive behavior. The biggest revelation of this book is that all addictions whether they are substance or behavior based such as gambling, are caused by natural neurochemicals in the brain.

In an era when addiction is running rampant. When you can walk into any convenience store and acquire nicotine, alcohol, junk food, lottery tickets and pornography. Harvey Milkman and Stanley Sunderwirth discuss more positive ways of achieving a natural high such as involvement in the arts. It's about changing negative behaviors that destroy life into positive ones that add to life.

Just What You're Looking For
This is exactly what you'd expect. You've got a couple of letters and need an answer, they're all here. Granted, that's a bit to look through, but desperate times and all that. I found this book particularly good for crossword construction, if you're into that sort of thing.

Current Therapy in Vascular Surgery
An excellent clinical text specifically designed for the chief of the vascular service or fellow. Fortunately, the title listed is incorrect and there is very little about "colon therapy"

Amazon has the wrong date and price. Call 1800UCBOOKS.
This is a book about love, violence, the outsider against society: the forbidden love of Tristan and Isolde, the problem violence in Boiardo's Orlando in Love, Ariosto's analysis of women and society, Spenser in Ireland, and Shakespeare's use of the old romance trope of the custom of the castle.

Best hockey fiction ever!
When my father mentioned the book over Christmas a couple years back, he was taken aback by my rattling off of facts about the famous Dawson City Cup challenge around the turn of the century. I read his copy that night in a rush, and it is the finest work of hockey fiction ever. Reddick stands with Ken Dryden as the most evocative hockey writer living. I have an autographed copy of my own now, and treasure it highly.

Ants in your pants?
My first grader and his friend both checked out this book and couldn't put it down. They are both good readers and loved it. It is hard to find something that boys this age find exciting, but this was it. They read the whole book in a day. I had to see what was so neat about it so I read it and also enjoyed it. A great beginning chapter book for kids. They can't wait to read the other scaredy cats books.

De Rerum Natura: Libri Sex

The best Lucretius
Lucretius isn't an author most come across, but nevertheless the DE RERVM NATVRA is truly a classic. In it he explains his version of epicureanism, taken from Epicurus and tweaked by Lucretius himself. Don't think our word 'epicurean' and this epicureanism are the same thing: epicurean has taken on a set of meanings that usually aren't present in the early philosophy, or in Lucretius's laying-out of it. Epicureanism should appeal to moderns as a very scientific view of the universe (L. offers scientific explanations of natural phaenomena, and isn't afraid to suspend judgement), including early atomic theory. On the other hand, the poetry and storytelling are moving. It is philosophy rimmed with the honey of poetry (as Lucretius puts it himself). As per this edition, it's pricey, but well worth it to completely understand the poet. The book itself is handsome and just the right size, and layed out well. The commentary is actually useful, unlike so many classical commentaries. It's advanced, but doesn't neglect or take for granted too much. At the same time, it doesn't concentrate on matters with a specialistic or only tenuous connection to the poem. In all, this is the place to study Lucretius, and to read a beautiful poem containing a beautiful (because thoughtful and insightful) philosophy.
