Spanish/English Contrasts: An Introduction to Spanish Linguistics (Romance Languages and Linguistics Series)
Published in Hardcover by Georgetown University Press (June, 1987)
Author: Melvin Stanley Whitley
Amazon base price: $29.95
Average review score:

A Linguistic Must
This is a wonderful book for the intermediate linguistics student. Though it does start at a basic level, it does jump rather quickly into a more difficult areas. The multiple charts and other illustrations make it especially useful to those who have to "see it" and not just read an explanation. I would definitely recommend this text to anyone interested in linguistics.

The Specialty of the House
Published in Hardcover by Amereon Ltd (June, 1956)
Author: Stanley Ellin
Amazon base price: $22.95
Average review score:

THE PERFECT SHORT STORY
It's scandalous that any of Stanley Ellin is out of print, but "The Specialty of the House" should always be in print somewhere. As big a fan as I am of John Collier, Roald Dahl and Saki, no single story of any of them can match Ellin's (first!) story. There is not a word that could be added to improve it, nor one that could be removed without diminishing it. In the thirty five years that have passed since I first read it, I doubt that six months have passed without my rereading it, and I find new pleasures each time. And the rest of Ellin is only a notch below this story (personal favorites - "Kindly Dig Your Grave, "The Last Bottle in the World", and "The Blessington Method"). If you've never read Ellin, do yourself a favor and try to find any of his story collections.

A classic reference
Ingle and Crouch have done a wonderful job in putting together a true reference text. This is a must have text for analytical chemists who need to have a concise treatment of spectrochemical analysis. They have done a wonderful job in intergrating theory with practice for a wide variety of analytical techniques. This book was indespensible as a graduate student in the late 80's and still comes in handy today!

TERRIFIC!
What a terrific book to read to your class! My 3rd grade class loved this book as we were beginning to read chapter books. We eventually read the next Jeff Brown book called Flat Stanley. Then we joined a group and mailed our Flat Stanleys to children and schools all over the world. This book is a must for your classroom library.

Stanley Bagshaw & the 22 Ton Whale
I found this book amongst some 'for sale' items at our local library. My 6-year-old son, who is very unenthusiastic about most books, absolutely loved it. It has the right amount of silliness and anarchy that kids can relate to, and was a real laugh for me too. We had to search the library for any other Stanley Bagshaw books, and found 'The Icecream Ghost' which proved just as popular. Perfect for reading aloud. (But they should be read in a North of England accent...).

Stanley Bleifeld Sculpter
Stanley Bleifeld - In 1961, Mr. Bleifeld was exposed to the many possibilities of sculpted subject matter during his first trip to Italy. Although his academic background was in painting, he began working in wax upon his return to the United States. He modeled small groups of figures in various narrative compositions which became a way of communicating ideas. His vision for his own work was to translate into sculptural terms the images of life that struck his imagination. His professional affiliations include the National Sculpture Society, National Academy of Design, and the North American Sculpture Society, among others.
