I should have been suspicious of this book when I did not find an author or a copyright on the title page. What I did find on the title page was "Reprint of the 23rd edition of Franchise Oportunity Handbook Issued 1995 by the United State Printing Office" In other words,this is a four year old list of franchises the was published by the Government. The bottom line . . . we paid for the information, now you can buy the book at retail or at the government printing office. Guess which is less expensive.

While at first glance this would appear to be a well written, authoritative book on the United States and International law. On closer examination there are several passages which are directly taken from another book written by Terry D. Gill, Litigation Strategy at the international Court. these are not footnoted or attributed to the correct sourse and thus would constitute plagarism. (one example is Gill pages128-131 is in Sterling pages 69-73)

A good example of affirmative action: blacks can get away with any nonsense in publishing a book.

This book cannot be called history. It should not be purchased by any library. The Seagraves made many, many errors of fact, some quite ridiculous. Most of the conclusions are, frankly, simply laughable. No Japanese sources are cited, and the secondary English sources are poor. It is clear that the Segraves have no fundamental understanding of Japanese history or culture. As a professor, I would automatically reduce a student's grade for citing it as authority. If I were to grade it as a graduate paper, it would be at best a D-, probably F.
Do not bother to read it as it is a waste of time, and might mislead some readers who do not have a background in East Asian history.
