TERRIFIC FOR ANYONE BUT ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH AN ILLNESS
This book is filled with excellent inspirational messages. Each unique story shares a common theme of individuals triumphing over the hand that life dealt them to achieve life-affirming goals. Perhaps the most inspirational story is that of editor Engle herself, detailed in the book's introduction. Diagnosed at the young age of sixteen with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), she oftentimes felt isolated, lonely and confused. She yearned for guidance from others facing life with a chronic illness. On her long, arduous road to recovery, she motivated herself by setting meaningful goals - goals that inspired her to fight the illness and survive. Her goal for this book is to encourage readers facing similar predicaments.
I recommend this book to anybody, physical limitations notwithstanding, that has ever been told, "You can't do that" but chose not listen to the admonishment. This is an excellent read for the person that is determined to reach for the stars, and when clouds get in the way find their own silver lining.

A Remarkable StorySalik Rosenberg was born a Jew in Germany in the late 1920's and moved with his family to Poland before the Nazi invasion. The story evolves around Sol's life during the rise of the Nazi's through to his rescue by the American troops at Dachau. What you see in this horrific odyssey are the captors and guards who embody the worst evils of humans, contrasted with a person like Sol, who seldom questioned his ability to go on and had just an incredible will for survival. Dr. Chardkoff adeptly adds historical facts surrounding the locations and timeframes of Sol's journey.
This book can be read by anyone easily and is definitely recommended for students of the holocaust. Due to the graphic nature of the conditions of the prisoners, I would not recommend this book to children. I highly recommend this book to anyone who thinks they had a difficult childhood.

Must reading for anyone who knows a family in this situation
Learn how to persevere for the sake of your child.Tom Sullivan is well-known as a special correspondent for ABC's Good Morning America, a sometimes actor, and the author of his autobiography, If You Could See What I Hear. He is also blind.
Fascinated with his mother's account of the chalenges of raising a special-needs kid, Sullivan interviewed 200 parents and selected six remarkable families of children with disabilities. Special Parent, Special Child shares the stories of how these parents overcame their personal tragedies and became nurturers of and advocates for their children. The families dealt with diverse circumstances: cerebral palsy, blindness, leukemia, deafness, attention deficit disorder, and Downs syndrome. The insights the parents offer about dealing with educational bureaucracies and medical personnel are valuable to anyone who loves a differently abled or seriously ill child.
Sullivan records several guideposts along each family's journey: their reactions to the initial dignosis (and the professionslas who made them); phases of denial and grief; impact on the family unit; how the parents learned to "work the system," becoming their child's advocate; dealing with the loss of personal identity; socialization; relationships with professionals; and sources of strength and hope. The parents candidly open their hearts, sometimes confessing attitudes of which they are not proud, but which other parents in the same situation would acknowledge as real. But best of all, in sharing their stories, they serve as role models for parents facing the same challenges. They demonstrate how to persevere for the sake of the child, how to search out better alternatives when what's offered isn't satisfactory.
Sullivan's style reads like a transcript of a television interview. It's sparked with banter between him and his subjects, and it's occasionally circuitous and redundant.

A great resorce for yu-gi-oh fans. This book has stuff about:
the characters
The comics
The unseen episodes{ the REAL first season}
The upcoming episodes
The card game
And don't forget agobut the 3-d section
This is probely one of the best things you could get information from about Yu-gi-oh {besides the internet.
Much Better than a lot of magazines you see now!It has bios from the manga & anime. It has reviews of cartoons that were never shown in the U.S.
And there's a ton of cool stuff about the CCG. There's a lot of Top 10 Lists & Killer Decks. About 80 pages of this book deal with the Card Game.
There's also stuff on the Video Games. I'm not a big fan of 3D, but the book does have eight 3D images & 3D glasses inside.
All in all, if you are into the YuGiOh anime, manga, or Card Game. This book is a must have. It's a great resource! I learned a lot about the history of YuGiOh that we might not ever see in the U.S.

Catholic position on the Millennium, End Times, and RaptureFr. Iannuzzi asks the question: "Did the Apostolic Fathers ever mention an 'era of peace' or an intermediary reign of Christ on earth?" (p. 10). He shows unequivocally that the answer is yes. The first half of the book is a rather difficult, slow read, since Fr. has to prove that the Fathers of the Church did in fact leave a legacy of writings that gives a specifically Catholic understanding of the Millennium.
He shows that the proper concept of the Millennium is consistent with Catholic teaching, and can be traced back to the earliest Church Fathers. This view is derived solely from Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium. No visionaries or private revelations are cited (making this book unique in Catholic circles among books that discuss the end times).
To summarize very briefly, there will be two tribulations, two triumphs, two remnants and two kingdoms. One set of these events occurs at the beginning of the Millennium, and the other at its end.
Fr. Iannuzzi makes no predictions as to actual dates and times.
However, in salvation history, four thousand years preceded Christ, and two thousand years have followed upon his birth. The next thousand years would be the seventh thousand, or the seventh day, the Sabbath day rest. Hence this period may very well be the millennial period. After the end of the seventh day, comes the eighth or eternal day of God's everlasting kingdom. However, we do not know for sure if the thousand years is to be taken literally, nor for sure when it will begin.
In scripture, the Day of the Lord refers to the whole seventh day, or the whole thousand-year period. The Millennium is the period of peace which marks the peak of this Day. The defeat of Antichrist will herald the beginning of the Millennium, or thousand year spiritual reign of Christ. The binding of Satan for a thousand years is also at the beginning of the Millennium.
The reign of Jesus during the Millennium will be a Eucharistic reign.
Jesus will not come in the flesh to begin the Millennium, but will come in spirit and power. To say that Jesus will come in the flesh for the thousand years is the heresy of Millenarianism. To say that He will come in the flesh for a thousand years and establish a 'sensual' kingdom of carnal banquets is the heresy of Chiliasm.
The end of the Millennium is marked by the final defeat of Satan (Gog, Magog period). The Rapture or gathering up with Christ refers to the final judgement, and will be at the end of the millennial period, not at its beginning.
The end of the seventh day is the end of time, and the beginning of eternity, or the eighth day of eternal rest, the eternal kingdom of God.
Thus there are then two separate tribulations, one at the beginning of the day (Antichrist), and one at the end of the day (Satan), the 'great' tribulation. There are two remnants, the Christian survivors of each of the two tribulations. There are two triumphs - the first triumph heralds the Temporal Kingdom and the second triumph heralds the Eternal Kingdom.
The book goes into detail about the characteristics of these two Kingdoms, the information coming from the same sources he uses throughout: Scripture, Church Fathers and Doctors, and the Magisterium.
Buy the book -- find out the answers! This book is a significant work that clearly demostrates why the world will not end in the year 2000. Iannuzzi documents critical Christian bible prophecy errors which demonstrates why popular prophecy commentators have been consistenly wrong with their proclamations concerning the imminent end of the world.
The author makes clear two critical errors -- the missing links -- which causes these well-meaning Christians to hold their mistaken position. Written in scholary fashion, the text lifts any confusion about what God has in store for His people during the millennium.
This book presently sits, front row center -- on my Christian library shelf. Brilliant!
