Crisscross pressures and childhood friendships
Set in the Holy Land during the early 1900s, before and during World War I, The Circle: Terror And Triumph In The Holy Land by H. Edward Schmidt is a compelling historical fiction about the Poletsky family of Arach, his wife Rivka, and their two children Sarah and Yitzhak. They are a Jewish family who live on the sacred soil of Palestine even as war erupts all around them. As the fate of the land is debated and promised, the family's son joins the Circle, a hard-core and extreme Zionist group committed to murdering its enemies, while the daughter embraces a vision of a free Palestinian state with both Jewish and Arab citizens. Crisscross pressures and childhood friendships create multiple conflicts in this heated page-turner of a novel.

Classic Triumph Calendar 2002
Published in Calendar by Motorbooks International (15 July, 2001)
Author: Tim Remus
Amazon base price: $14.95

finally, a calendar for britbike lovers...
In a world where most people think motorcycle is spelled "Harley", it's refreshing to see a calendar with the beautiful bikes from Britain. Triumph motorcycles have a style and form that is unmatched. The photos are superb, large, and bring out the subtle colors and attributes of these magnificent machines. I have several friends who were unable to purchase the calendar, as they seemed to sell out quickly. My only suggestion to the publisher is to make more copies available in 2003.

A Must Have For Wedge Owners
This manual is very detailed in the maintainance, operation, and repair of all 4-cyl TR-7 automobiles. No information is given for the 116 early rover V-8 Variants, but who has one! This tool by far outshines any "Auto Parts Store" manual. This manual includes the drivers handbook, wire diagrams, step by step flow chart style troubleshooting guides, and a list of other very helpful publications. I would recommend this book to any 7 owner. Happy Motoring!

Cruel Fate: One Man's Triumph over Injustice
Published in Paperback by Poolbeg Pr Ltd (August, 1994)
Authors: Hugh Callaghan and Sally Mulready
Amazon base price: $9.95
Used price: $4.50
Average review score:

Triumph Indeed
Hugh Callaghan was convicted of the Birmingham pub bombings in 1975, along with 5 other men, and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was also completely innocent of every charge brought against him. This is his story, from his upbringing in Belfast and later life in Birmingham to the night that changed his life forever. It tells about the fitup, the kangaroo court trials, the police brutality, the life in prison, the refusal for many years by anyone bar a few people to believe in the innocence of the Birmingham Six. It is a damning indictment of a "justice" system which would rather a quick result than the truth and does not care about the people it destroys in the process. It is also a story of hope and of how the world can be changed when there are enough people doing it. This book is a must read for anyone who cares about true justice.

Saving the World
If you ever doubted that the United States almost single-handedly saved the world during World War II, this book will settle the question. From the opening of the 40's, when Franklin Roosevelt used every trick in the book to aid the British and Europeans in their fight against Nazism, to Pearl Harbor, the vicious fighting in both Europe and the Pacific, to the winning of the peace with the Marshall plan, the editors of Time/Life have given us a great book. Stuffed full of pictures that are indeed worth a thousand words, with text that adds more information and detail, this book is a must for history buffs, those who lived through the times and all of us who came after and benefitted from their sacrifices and perserverence.

Bravo!!! This is TOP QUALITY PUBLISHING!
Anyone would be greatly impressed at this collection of three early Denali (preferred name of Mt. McKinley) climbing stories. This is not one of those cheap "facsimile" books that are so common in public domain works. This is truly re-typeset to perfection! Photos have been reproduced with crisp contrast at full size to compliment the overall fine layout. Pages are soft; they lay open effortlessly to allow effortless reading.

A remarkable value to find these days. This is the combination of three works that would be prohibitively expensive to own as original editions, yet cost less than one of these, that I am aware of, that is in reprint. The experience is one of handling the original editions because there is so little of the domineering "New introductions" some egomaniacs burden this genre with.

The value of all three in a single volume has a powerful effect on the childish Cookie (Fred Cook) version that both offended and inspired Belmore Browne. He had a passion for exposing Cook and trying to climb Mt. McKinley himself. Recently Bradford Washburn lived up to his objective of "nailing Cook's coffin shut" (See: The Dishonorable Dr. Cook) with his devastating photos of exactly where the fakes occurred - many miles from and miles below the Denali summit. Now look here at Stuck's primitive, but authentically powerful pictures and Cookie becomes even more of a joke. All Fred Cook had going for him was compulsive lying coupled with sickening "poetic descriptions" that lulled weak minds. Not so Stuck! His group can be likened to early, primitive "Sir Edmund Hillary" style mountain climbers. Theirs is a thoroughly satisfying expedition that delivered the real photos, data, and supporting descriptions.

This is a brilliant trio of Denali classics that makes one appreciate Washburn's extraordinary efforts to nail that coffin shut by providing a context to understand why Belmore Browne was so offended with the Fred fraud. Denali is a magnificent natural wonder; Cook's self-serving exploitation of Mt. McKinley was like a dog taking a poop on a rare Persian carpet. Thankfully there were men of character, men with the determination of Browne and Stuck, who sought the reward of reaching that summit in the clouds.

Hats off to everyone who worked on producing this excellent publishing effort. While Washburn nailed the coffin, this book makes you want to grab your own hammer & nails to whack in a few more for good measure. Fun reading, excellent browsing, this is the ultimate reference companion on Denali. Bravo!!! Bravo!!!

Dracula Go Home
Dracula Go Home is a great book and I would recommend this to any child from ages 8-13. You (the reader) should read this book because it is a great mystery and is full of suspense and humor. The book is basically about a boy Larry who visits his aunt for the summer to help her run her hotel and ends up seeing a guy that looks like Dracula and who signs in as A.R. Claud (rearrange the letters) So Larry keeps a close eye on him and solves the mystery. So read the book to find out what mystery I'm talking about and no, it's not whether he is Dracula or not.
