Peter Danielson
Over the years my wife and I really enjoyed the series of the Children of the Lion. Since we also enjoy the Bible these stories complemented our reading. Peter Danielson has a way of making history come alive. It is sometimes difficult to relate to this period time when you are reading from some material. This is not so with Mr. Danielson's work. I found that an enormous amount of research had gone into his books and they had a unique quality about them that made them come alive. He has really done his homework. My wife and I found his work striking. I do miss the series and have wondered what happened and why he discontinued the work. Since he no longer is producing this series we have looked for someone that does similar work following the same time period and historical reference. One author that is of interest is Christian Jacq - Ramses. Peter Danielson was very enjoyable to read a series that keeps you thinking as you are reading. Very factual and fascinating to read too.

Apparently this is the last book in the series
I spoke with the publisher of this excellent series (who stated they would forward correspondence to the author) & apparently as the author stated in Vol. 19 the "storytelling" has come to an end. Unfortunately. I have enjoyed this series immensely & was sad to see it come to an end. Even sadder to see it go "out of print."

Is there a book #20 in this series?
I have read the entire "Children of the Lion" series and have thoroughly enjoyed each saga. Having lived 10 years in Israel, the places and scenery are familiar and come alive with Peter Danielson's characters. My burning question: is there a 20th book in the series, or has the author ended his exploration of the land and it's history with the reign of King David? If anyone knows the answer, (publisher ?, author ?) PLEASE inform the reading public. Kudos to Mr. Danielson!

Well written and informative
This is a good book. It was referred to me by my psychiatrist for OCD. Although it did not address my issues and help me much with my needs, it did make me realize that my problems compare little to some of the issues and difficulties other people have! I liked the book very much and found it very encouraging and informative.

Covers all the bases
Having "been there, done that" (anxiety), I've read a lot of books about the subject and I can highly recommend Triumph Over Fear. It's an inspiring, motivating book that covers all the bases.

I'd been a professional speaker for many years, traveling throughout the country giving presentations and teaching classes, then I was in a car accident and became agoraphobic. I told myself that I'd give myself all the time that I needed to heal; I'd concentrate on my writing and not travel for a while. Giving myself time to heal was a great start--I had another book published during those years (and even had a "brush" with an Oprah producer who pitched the idea of having me on the show)--but it had become easier and easier to stay home. I needed to do more. I had to "work" the ideas in Jerilyn's book so I could get back in my car and drive to the mall and go to the movies and, finally, travel again.

Jerilyn shares her own experience with having had anxiety and having recovered from it, then addresses the various anxiety disorders-agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive, panic, post-traumatic stress, social phobia, and generalized anxiety-and gives case studies that illustrate each of them. She also discusses treatment options and shares good solid expertise, common sense, and proven exercises.

Being a writer myself, I loved her suggestion to keep a diary. I also liked the idea of labeling the anxiety and paying careful attention to the thoughts and behaviors that trigger it. I worked the program myself rather than with a therapist, although I did attend a peer support group for a while. And yes, it was a challenge to drive to those meetings, but they were so helpful and necessary! At one time my anxiety had become so pervasive that I found myself wondering who I'd be without it. Jerilyn even addresses that issue in the chapter, "Becoming Acquainted with the New You."

Today I'm feeling better than I have in years. Read Triumph Over Fear for a clearer understanding of anxiety and for the proven, practical guidelines for getting on with your life. - Kathleen Hawkins, president of winningspirit.com and author of Spirit Incorporated: How to Follow Your Spiritual Path from 9 to 5

From a woman who's been there.
I've read a lot of books on anxiety, and this is the best. Ross once suffered from an anxiety disorder herself and tried to find treatment, only to be told it was in her head. A lot has been learned about anxiety disorders even in the last ten years, and Ross knows all about it. She not only tells you about the treatment available through therapists (with contact information and resources at the back of the book) but if you want to do it yourself, the book is full of practical advice. I'm the author of the book, Self-Help Stuff That Works, and I can tell you without any hesitation that Triumph Over Fear is self-help stuff at its best. I highly recommend this book. Buy one for yourself and share one with a friend or family member who may suffer without realizing help is available.

And Then He Called My Name: The Tragedy and Triumph of the Cross Like You'Ve Never Experienced It Before

Awesome
This is the only book that I have ever read that has made the sacrifice of Jesus so real. Actually seeing His supreme sacrifice through the eyes of actual eyewitnesses, makes the event more personal. Because I've read about these characters through the gospels, I know they are every day people like you and me. But I have rarely taken time to think of how they must have thought of or personally saw the events accuring before them. The true heart felt emotions of seeing, not only a person they loved and adored being sacrificed in innocense. But a stranger you don't know, but had the priviledge to see, being killed in your place. The book is awesome. I will be giving this away for Christmas to all of my loved ones.

And Then He Called My Name
My husband and I read Richard Exley's And Then He Called My Name last year for the first time just before Easter. We read one chapter a night outloud together and finished it just in time to celebrate Easter Sunday. If you're feeling like we did that the real meaning was being lost by the commercialism of a giant Bunny Rabbit, please read this book.

This book made me experience the emotional impact of all those who were in contact with Jesus at the time of his walk up Calvary Hill for our sins, people such as Judas Iscariot, Pontius Pilate, Barabbas, and even our Heavenly Father himself. I couldn't finish a single chapter without tears streaming from my eyes. It made me see how much I truly loved Jesus and what a price he paid for my sins.

Thank you, Richard Exley, for bringing the true meaning of Easter to our family. It's now a family tradition to read And Then He Called My Name every year at Easter to bring the love of our Savior closer to our hearts.

And then HE Called My Name
This book brings the crucifixion alive. I learned things about the death of Christ that I never learned growing up in my Church...it deepened my perspective on the death of our Savior. I would love to share this book with anyone that would take time to read it.

Outstanding
Ever said, "I have a terrible headache?" Did you feel it was the worst headache you've ever had. Then you must read Kate's Journey.

This book should be in the home of anyone that has ever had a headache, in the library of every neurologist, and in the hands of every therapist or any health care official that encounters stroke patients.

Kate's Journey delivers hope through an amazing story of recovery. In a clever and ingenious way, Kate interjects humor in the story of her recovery from a devastating stroke and the complete disruption of the life she knew.

Kate's Journey provides the key to not living a self-fulfilling prophecy of hopelessness when you or some you love is told there is, "No Hope." Kate's Journey provides the warning signs of stroke to those who may be experiencing the onset of a stroke and are totally unaware, and incredible insight to family members and friends of those whom may have already suffered the tragic disabilities of stroke. Think you're too young? Think you're in great shape? Read Kate's Journey before it's too late.

Wondering how I could ever read a book about someone's stroke, quickly turned into wondering how I could ever put the book down. It was witty and filled with Kate's actual thoughts. I was now getting first hand the pain and thoughts that were going through the mind of my own husband. He was now living Kate's Journey, her nightmare of paralysis and the inability to speak.

I recommend reading Kate's Journey, a story of recovery and hope, in lieu of books that deliver a message of acceptance of a devastating fate. I prefer the "Never Give Up" message contained within the pages of Kate's Journey; a story of bouncing back against all odds. Which would you rather read? It could happen in the blink of an eye. Stroke -- paralysis, complete devastation. Will you be next? Maybe not; if you read Kate's Journey Triumph Over Adversity.

I have found Kate to be as outstanding as her book.

WARNING! This book will CHANGE your LIFE!
This book separates itself from all other books on the market. Kate's story is a tribute to the human spirit in the face of real adversity. Her remarkable journey sweeps you along from the very first page. You won't be able to put this book down, as you are taken back to where she suffered a stroke and was given up for dead. You experience along with her, lying in a coma for months after a stroke, being a vegetable yet awake and aware of everything that was going on--to the inspiring, triumphant, powerful, and joyful person she is today.

I look at life differently, since I read this book. I have an attitude of gratitude, and understanding. I thank you Kate, for writing this book! THANK YOU!

The Most Miraculous Story Ever
When I first heard the story of this woman I did not believe it myself. I had to read the book for myself. Now I have read the book, and contacted Ms. Adamson personally. Being skeptical by nature, I had to discuss my conerns as to the book's authenticity. After discussing what took place in her life I am now convinced I have met someone who has been truly blessed by God. Kate is so inspirational, has such a great personality, and is so humble it is easy to overlook her intelligence, compassion and grace. I am giving a copy of her book to everyone in my family to read for themselves. Although her story is a miracle, it should give hope to anyone who has sufferred serious setbacks in their life. She has earned my respect.

Brush up on church history
This is a great way to learn church history through fascinating biographical sketches. It's a children's book, and I have read it aloud to my six- and eight-year-olds, but I enjoyed it for my own reading first. It will make you appreciate your religious freedom in a new way, and inspire you to live a courageous Christian life.

very unique book
I would recommend this for adults and older children. Most Protestants put so much focus on the Bible that they don't learn much about anything that happened in the Church after the book of Acts. This book will help fill in the gaps.

Best principal there will ever be
If you want to read an excellent book about stalwart soldiers for Christ, written by a principled (no pun intended), committed, and passionate Christian, and if you want to be "spurred on toward love and good deeds" by the examples of these amazing and courageous believers, read Trial and Triumph! In his writing, Mr. Hannula makes Augustine, Ambrose, Polycarp, and all the others come alive--just as he makes history exciting and real for the students he teaches in his history classes. Do yourself a favor and read his book.

Uncommon Heart
Even if I were not a runner, there is a lot to take away from this book. This is one of the most inspiring stories of my generation. A tale of courage, love, and beating the odds. Annie's heart is uncommon alright -- both biologically and emotionally. You can't help but be moved to "just do it!"

Uncommon Heart
As a runner myself I was looking for those "pearls of wisdom" on what makes one succeed. Well, I found it in this book...desire! I walked away from this book learning that success comes from a strong desire and from patience.
I think that anyone looking for an insight into the world of track and field will find this book very enjoyable. Unfortunately, in our country running is often equated to a four letter word and it is not looked at as a sport. Well, Anne shows us that of all sports running is challenging, exciting and very rewarding.
Congratulations Anne on such a moving story.

A great book!!!
I lived through a lot of Anne's experiences and was there to see many of her victories and the struggle it took to achieve her many successes. The book is true to the real experience and portrays not only Anne's history but the history of road racing and its great expansion in the 70's and 80's. It was the "Golden Age" of the sport and Anne and her cowriter, John Parker, do an excellent job of capturing that era. I've read a lot of sport biographies and this is one of the best I've come across. Well written and an interesting story, John and Anne have captured the essence of the time in a great biography.

A book well-written
As an Egyptian who came to America I was amazed by an American who had such a clear view and analysis of what is going in Egypt, and I hope many American and non-Egyptians would read her book. She tried (with a great success) to let her readers be "Egyptians" in their view to what is happening in their country. Her best conclusion, and which she, intelligently, leaves to the reader to conclude, is that a grassroots solution is always much more effective (and democratic) than an imposed solution (where the solution here is having an Islamic society)

Very impressive, but biased
Abdo's work is very impressive and timely. While Abdo has made clear a clear distinction between Orthodox and militant Islam, she seem to have been completely unreceptive to other genuine forms of Islam such as Sufism or moderate Islam. As such, she has adopted a narrow view of Islam, that of Orthodox Islam or Brotherhood's Islam and saw all others as either secularists or militant.

The Jest of Abdo's findings of the non violent nature of the vast majority of Fundamentalist or Orthodox Moslems was very well presented in her first chapter. Her analysis of the multitude of educated and affluent women willingly taking up the veil was enlightening.

Most fascinating was Abdo's contrast of the situation in Iran to that of Egypt, and how the non-political social Islamic movement in Egypt has produced a more religious society than the Political imposed from above Islam of Iran

Most disappointing is Abdo's failure to represent the alternate pious views of Islam in Egypt, views that accept the religion but see a separation between Government and religion. Such as separation, contrary to Abdo's reading of history is more than the norm of an Egypt that had separate roles for the Sultan, and the Caliph for centuries

Great, But try SB 1 or God
Religion and people all over the world are the same, this book is no different in that it has a hidden undertone for a search for truth. Thats why I rate it 5 star. Any time we have authors like this we are receiveing a great contribution. The book does have a message, in general for help, enlightenment, and a cry for response. These are the undertones of this book not the outward message of Islam in Egypt or any place else. I highly recommend reading SB 1 or God By Karl Mark Maddox.

The Red Sox should retire Tony"s #25-just read the book.
This is a great book about Tony C. It shows both his strengths as a person and some of his weak spots, which makes this book a very true and real story.
It's a great history of the Red Sox when Tony C. played. It shows the true guts, determination, courage and love for the Red Sox that Tony C. had. No player in any sport has made such an effort to comeback. And, this book captures it all.
The Red Sox should retire his number -- just read the book it supports retiring #25.
Billy Conigliaro's quote sums up how i feel about Tony C. "I will always remember Tony C. as a fighter, a clutch hitter, warm to his fans. He was a brother who made me proud."
Tony thank you so much for all the wonderful memories as a Red Sox player. You have given me the strength to fight my own battles in life. I hope that someone makes a movie from this book.

My reason for this book...
I began work on this book in 1994...I'm glad to see that the public has received this book well. It is a fine tribute to a dashing young ballplayer for whom this book was a labor of love...Here's to you, Tony!

The Life of A Boyhood Idol
Dave Cantaneo gives this young fan a second chance to remember a boyhood idol through this very insightful book about the tragic figure thatb inspired thousands of boys my age. The ultimate complement to any baseball player when I grew up was that everyone wanted his baseball card and everyone wanted to "be" the player during pickup games. These were simple times when players were loyal to teams and teams were loyal to fans. Everyone wanted to be Tony C, and since he was just a teenager joining the Red Sox, all of my buddies and I idolized him immediately. This book permits us the opportunity to spend a few hours with a real sports idol. Tony C was to Red Sox fans what the Beatles were to American rock and roll lovers--- except he was right here. Thanks for the book, David.

A STORY OF TRIUMPH
"RONNIE" IS ABOUT A WOMAN'S JOURNEY FROM AN ABUSIVE MARRIAGE TO THE ARMS OF MR. RIGHT. THIS BOOK IS AN INSPRIRATION TO ALL WOMEN WHO HAVE BEEN REPRESSED BECAUSE OF DOMESTIC ABUSE. IT TELLS A STORY OF A WOMAN WHO OVERCAME THE ABUSE AND WENT ON IN FAITH, EVENTUALLY ENDING UP RIGHT WHERE SHE WAS MEANT TO BE. I LOVE A HAPPY ENDING.

A profound life story!
A story that made me feel, imagine & cry! I loved it! This book is a story of truth, amazing courage, compassion, friendship and love! I loved the characters. I could go on, but you'll just have to read it yourself! I especially appreciated the lack of vulgarity! This artist truely knows the meaning of style! A must read!

Ronnie
I truly enjoyed reading the book "Ronnie". The book expressed some explosive feelings and emotion. I would recommend it to everyone. I think it has the potential of giving a person in an abusive situation the strength, with god help to change there future but also to know that it won't be easy, and just take one day at a time and be patient. I also think it could be very beneficial to young people to alert them to behavior that is abusive and what kinds of relation ships is more secure.

Don't give up on this one.
This book by James Kaplan provides an in depth look at John F. Kennedy Int'l Airport in NYC. But in doing this it is looking at a small town with it's different people and functions. Everything from the medical staff, to the guy who changes all the lightbulbs in the ground are given a face in this incredible book. It's a fast read, and it will answer all your questions. It's not just for people who like airports or for New Yorkers. It is for everyone who should marvel at how special a place JFK really is. It leaves you hoping that Kaplan will adopt the same methods with other institutions around the country.

I am a JFK "junkie" and I loved this book
Extremely well written with terrific detail. This book takes you inside the workings of the airport. It gives you a view of JFK and particular events that are relevant to the airport that you would not have without the benefit of this book. The real testament to this book for me is that since I've read it, every time something happens that has to do with JFK (TWA 800 etc.), I wish that Mr. Kaplan would incorporate it in a sequel so that I could understand it through his perspective. Kaplan's chapter on his experience of flying in the cockpit of the Concorde is worth finding this book even though it now appears to be out of print.

Fascinated
I never thought I'd be fascinated by baggage handlers or traffic cops at an airport. But this book changed all that. It is a wonderful adventure from the most exciting moments in the cockpit to the control tower to the ticket counter to the kitchen and beyond. It takes you to 30,000 feet all the way down to the guts of the airport operations. From the beginning account of an actual plane crash to everything else, I could not put this book down. If you're the least bit interested in commercial airliners or airports, this is a must read.
