Helpful book in time of need!
This book and the manner in which it was written is a lifesaver in time of grief! You can choose the various sections of the content that apply to your particular needs. Highly recommended!

An excellent book that belongs in every home
Clearly and lovingly writtten, Soaring into the Storm is an excellent family resource book. Its advice and wisdom for people in times of trouble (and who among us hasn't experienced those?!) is straight from the author's heart. I'll be giving copies of this book to many of my friends.

a very useful gift for anyone who is enduring hardship
I have purchased many copies of this book since it was introduced to me by an American Red Cross worker on a national disaster site. It has been appreciated by friends going through many different hardships, i.e. divorce, death of a loved one, flood victim, serious illness. This is one of the most touching and useful books I have ever read.

Standing On Holy Ground: A Triumph Over Hate Crime in the De
I was fighting tears before I finished the first chapter. I thought we had come farther than this. What broke my heart was not just that a few twisted individuals would commit such atrocities, but that the victims did not trust the system to come to their aid. That speaks volumes. We still have a long way to go and Sandra's book has made that abundantly clear. Those who helped turn things around for this church are true heros and much braver than I.
Betty Wilson Beamguard

A Tribute to Truth, Determination, Faith & Courage
STANDING ON HOLY GROUND is compelling and thought-provoking and reads like fiction, but becomes all the more riveting and terrifying when you realize it's a true, unadulterated story of the modern-day South and the racism that still exists. But it is also a story of triumph and how two women, against all odds, brought a community together -- a community that reached out beyond the town, the county and the state and effected thousands of concerned citizens in America. Sandra E. Johnson's prose is solid, unbiased, but also visceral an unblinking in its re-telling of the obstacles and challenges faced by two friends (one black, one white) and their fight to save a rural country church from hated and racism. This is a "must-read"!

"A Masterpiece!"
Sandra E. Johnson has created a masterpiece in journalism! No bias can be found anywhere in her book--only the facts. As the story unfolds, one truly begins to feel as he or she were treading on Holy Ground (page after blessed page). Upon reading this book, no one can ever say againg that the truth is boring or that real stories must be embellished for artistic flare and entertainment. Johnson's words hammer home every riveting detail in a fashion that makes the reader feel as if they are gliding through a well-written novel. Who needs fiction when you can have this kind of truth?

Through telling of how diverse people banded together to rebuild St. John Baptist Church, Sandra Johnson shows the world that love, faith, hope and a spirit of unity can come together to work miracles. It is a message that she proclaims to us all and we're the better for it.

The New Orleans Times--Picayune Reviews
Ann Sharra's novel does not follow the trail of standard historical romance. The major innovation of Triumph in Paradise demonstrates the timelessness of love to prevail over all other human emotions. This is a refreshing story of love from Ancient Babylonia that has deep meaning for the 21st century.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution Reviews
This is the tender story of a 16-year-old Babylonian princess that wins the heart of the reader. The cosmic dance of love shines brightly through the darkness of man's struggle to understand himself, revealing the meaning of love at its finest. The characterizations in this true story set in ancient Babylonia are most impressive.

From the Critics
"You have choreographed a powerful, intrically woven story here, highly informative. You write in a most distinctive fashion."
--Scott Michel, novelist and playwright

"Ann Sharra tells this personal epic in an intensely audacious and brilliant manner. Thrilling, breathtaking, and unflinchingly accurate."--Zedi Al-Werdi, Ph.D., Iniversity of Baghdad Central Library

Triumph Motorcycles in America

Understanding the Triumph motorcycle in history.
I have read just about every book the covers the history and detail of Triumph motorcycles, and this book is the best I have seen. When you consider the unique marketing of the US distributors and the American concept of what a great motorcycle should be this is a must read for anyone working on a Triumph in the US. Detailed, colorful, and well written, with plenty of reference photos it is the guide for the restorer or anyone seeking to understand the the role Triumph played in making this a nation of motorcycle riders.

A literary Triumph!
Lindsay Brooke has written the best book I've ever read on the passion, the guts and the glory that was the Triumph story. Seamless weaving anecdote and accolade, he has produced a masterwork. Sitting in bed well after midnight, papercuts covering my fingers, lips chapped from reading, I simply couldn't put it down.

A Must Have Book for American Triumph Lovers
Provides the descriptive timeline from the introduction of Triumph in America to present day. Great book for the novice or expert Triumph aficionado. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

The Triumphs of Joseph: How Today's Community Healers Are Reviving Our Streets and Neighborhoods

Are you afraid of the truth?
The Triumphs of Joseph is simply one of the most important books to be written since the Civil Rights Movement. I teach diversity classes and I use Triumphs as a primary text to offset the constant presentation by black leaders (often self-proclaimed) and the media that African Americans are somehow deficient in ordinary resilience and social strategies and need the paternalistic help of governmental and private agencies. Why do so many people who are not disadvantaged feel free to define for the disadvantaged what their needs, wants, and goals are? Dr. Woodson is sure to offend those who are the vicarious victims and parasitic victimizers of the poor but the validity of his message cannot be denied. Coming from a disadvantaged background myself, I have lived some of the situations he describes yet today I hold a doctorate and teach at the college level. Dr. Woodson is definitely a winner with a winning plan. If you want to be a winner, stick with the winners.

Inspiring, passionate, and truthful!
This is one of the most inspiring books I have ever read. The further I read into it the more I was moved by the narrative, and the stories.

The book has very few statistics and is not heavy in technical detail. But whatever its perceived fault could be, it pales in comparison with the passion, power and truthfulness of its message.

Learn about the small, scattered and underresourced groups of men and women that are transforming the inner cities of America and the implication that this has for the social renewal of all of our socieity.

This book is inspiring, practical, and immensely moving. I believe it should be read by every person in United States who has even a bit of honesty to face the problems of our communities, even a little strength to care about others, and a desire to have their eyes opened to the powerful solutions that are available in very humble quarters!

Black America, read this now!
Every black person in the United States ought to devote an evening or two to reading this book. It shows in a concise 100-plus pages that "Black History" includes the triumphs of self-sufficiency which were considered ordinary before the Civil Rights movement taught the race that "progress" meant handouts and lowered standards of evaluation. The inner cities are slowly rising out of the ashes, not through government charity but through residents working the system to change their own destinies, making their peace with an unfair past. No book says this better. Everyone -- buy this book and regain your hope.

Insightful!
I am the mother of two children with disabilities. I do not have a child with cancer. However, when I picked up the book "Conquering Kids Cancer", I could not put it down. This book is not just for a family going through cancer, it's for any family. Dr. Lazarus makes a good source of information for anyone interested in learning more about cancer including anyone in the medical field. His down to earth writing makes this book a must have. It made me laugh and cry but most of all it made me appreciate life to the fullest.

A nice commentary about dealing with cancer in children.
Dr. Lazarus gives a good commentary on how medicine is more than just administering RX to patients. It goes so much furthur than that. Dr. Lazarus shares some heartwarming stories about his road in the pediatric oncology world. It also reveals why a doctor would choose this specialization. I for one am glad he did.

Various stories of children with cancer.
A great compassionate doctor reveals how medicine should be practiced

Cry the Darkness : One Woman's Triumph over the Tragedy of Incest
Published in Paperback by Health Communications (1993)
Author: Donna L. Friess
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

A MUST-READ FOR SURVIVORS OR FAMILIES !!!
I read this book two years ago, and it is a story that I think would help both the "Survivors" of incest and the families of the "Victims" to reach a definite understanding of how a child feels when this happens to them. I am now a volunteer for the Center For Child Abuse Prevention in my city.

Well written and inspirational, I read it in one sitting.
As a suffer of AIDS, my life has new meaning since I was told that I am HIV positive. I want to simplify my life. Donna Friess' book has given me courage and a new insight into making my life count. It is my most valuable possesssion.

Amazing Courage and Strength, Indeed a Trimuph
Donna Friess shows several things on incest: 1. The cycle of Abuse must end; 2. There is healing from such horrendous torture; 3. There is hope, peace, healing, and life after incest. After Donna experiences the ultimate betrayal by her father, she gives hope to incest Survivors; she lets them know that life isn't about incest and being a victim. Life is about living, loving, and trimuph of the human spirit. I highly recommend this book to any incest Survivor.

Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment
Published in Paperback by Marvel Books (December, 1991)
Authors: Roger Stern, Mike Mignola, and Mike Magnola
Amazon base price: $9.95
Used price: $125.00
Average review score:

Brilliant writing and art!
The is a must have for any fan of Doom. Roger Stern's writing is simply brilliant, and Mignola's artwork is magnificant. The good Doctor is portrayed as ruthless and cunning, but with a shockingly noble goal. Dr. Strange plays second fiddle to Doom, yet his involvement is instrumental to the plot. The story is this: Doom competes in the contest of the Vishanti to receive a boon from the Sorceror Supreme. His wish? Only to free his mother's soul from the clutches of Mephisto, a fight that involves a journey to his realm which could cost them both their lives.

I can't say enough about this story. It is one of the best pieces of comic literature I have ever encountered and I have read it countless times. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!

DOOM VS. MEPHISTO
WITHOUT TAKING ANTHING AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL ORIGINS, TRIUMPH AND TORMENT ADDS TO BOTH DOCTORS' PAST HISTORY, WHILST WEAVING AN INTRICATE STORY THAT INVOLVES BOTH MEN'S PASTS AND POWERS. IF YOU ARE A DOCTOR DOOM FAN, YOU MUST HAVE THIS BOOK! ITS DRAWN BETTER THAN THE "VILLANY" TPB, AND HAS BETTER WRITING.

One of the best stories featuring DOOM
Very cool story, Doom and Strange journey to HELL and square off against Mephisto. The coolest parts though are the re-tellings of both origins...nothing is changed, but a LOT is added to both tales....nice detail throughout. And the art....WOW. This is a nice looking book, and one of the best characterizations of Victor VonDoom.

Inspirational
If you have children participating in athletics, this book is a must for their reading list. I couldn't put it down. Read it from cover to cover in one night and then went back and re-read it to appreciate it further. Just when you think that the trials and tribulations in your life are all encompassing, you realize that life is suddenly much better than you imagined it to be. Wonderful read.

Enlightening
This book is about more than just the obstacles and victories in sports; it gives insight into how players can get the most out of their sports career and LIFE. It is a WONDERFUL book that high school and college students and their parents should read. My 3 children who are in Middle School and High School read it and loved it.

I love this book!
I did get the book and I must say that I can't put it down. Just tonight I read another chapter with my pen and highlighter by my side. It is so cool to see athletes with the same dreams, beliefs, problems, and aspirations. I have told my friends about the book, and there is a line to get it after I have finished it. Thanks again for providing a book that can reach, teach, and motivate an athlete
