First TimeThis was a fantastic book!!! It made me cry, laugh, shiver, and pause to think. A read for everyone no matter what your taste.
I could not put the book down!I wanted to know what was going to happen to the 3D characters next. Verita will definitely make you think about the world around you and the people you pass on the street each day. This could be adapted into an excellent screenplay.
What DOES God look like?Easy to read and hard to put down. Thought provoking, suspenseful and well researched. The characters and situations are not only believeable but you have possibly met some of the people and been some of the places. Who or what does God look like. Whare is the human race headed and do we have anything to say about it. Verita raises some possibilities. This is not a religious book but a thought provoking drama.Whatever you believe in, Verita will make you wonder.

Hangman's CurseThis book was pretty interesting. Frank Peretti definately did his research. The reason the book is so succesful is because something like this could happen in real life (although I doubt it would).
However. There was one thing about this book that was totally stereotyped: the witches. The witches in this book were nothing like the ones I know in real life. I mean, come on, they dressed all in black and made sacrifices. Who does that anymore, other than satanists?
Elijah Springfield...he wasn't very well developed. His sister Elisha was like his female counterpart, although she was a little more likeable.
I thought Ian Snyder was cool, in a wierd sort of way. To be honest, when I first read the book, I was hoping Ian and Elisha would hook up. But that probably won't happen because she's a Christian and he isn't.
Overall, the book was pretty good. I won't give the ending away, but it is a little disappointing. And really, the book doesn't give a very accurate portrayal of teasing either. Read this book once, then see if you like it.Don't say I didn't warn you if you're disappointed.
Fortunately, veritas project #2 looks more interesting. hopefully it will be an improvement on this book.

RemarkableThis is an amazing book. It's filled with realistic characters and a great plot. Peretti has once again given his fans a satisfying book. Buy this book, the second one, and go see the movie. You won't be dissapointed.
Thank you, Frank!!I just wanted to say that it's wonderful that we have good Christian books like this one that teenagers absolutely love. I have heard several young men say how much they enjoyed Hangman's Curse, and not only because of the excelent plot. Thank you for another great book, Frank!

Spiritual Warfare at HarvardThis is a terrific book written in the style of Frank Peretti's "This Present Darkness." Claire is a student at Harvard, struggling to defend her faith in classes where the professors discriminate against Christians. She gets involved with a project that is trying to uncover the Christian roots of the university and learns basics in apologetics along the way.
I was fascinated by this book and couldn't put it down. I loved the way the author presented some basic arguments for defending Christian principles against the theories of evolution, humanism and secularism. As well, it was fascinating to read the "Behind the scenes" accounts of the spirit realm. Obviously the author took some liberties in describing angels and demons but it makes for a compelling story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking of attending a secular university or someone who just wants to know how to argue issues from a Christian perspective.
Very encouraging!I found this book fascinating! While reading it, I realized that the plot was definitely FICTIONAL, but the speach in the book was extremely helpful. I am attending a secular college this year, and am nervous about the stronghold Satan has over the campus. This book was very encouraging to me! It made me realize how much God loves prayer and provided very useful arguments for defending your faith! :) This is a must-read for every Christian college student, and wonderful for everyone else as well! :)
The truth about "Veritas"I could not put this book down. The author obviously knows her stuff and was able to weave a wonderful tale involving the past and present as well as the physical and spiritual world and how God's will fits into it. If you're a student at a secular university and would like an honest (though perhaps somewhat extreme) look inside at how Christians are treated as well as how to respond to criticism and philosophical positions against your faith, then this book is for you!

Bogie and Me: The Love Story of Humphrey Bogart and Verita Thompson

They hated phoniesIt's actually hilarious when you consider Bacall's memoirs (By Myself) and Bogie's lectures to Bacall on the subject of marital fidelity and how much he hated phonies, to realize that he was having a fifteen year affair with his hairdresser, simultaneous with two of his marriages. But he was a high-functioning alcoholic and he actually had his life beautifully arranged; the girlfriend tended to him on the set and on publicity tours and the wife at home.
The book is quite readable and enjoyable, if slight, and these are two people whose company you'd enjoy if you like to go out and drink a lot which apparently they spent a lot of time doing. I'm sure Thompson had no notion how revealing this book would be about their characters. They're both quite amusing, quick with the wisecracks and were obviously good friends as well as lovers. She was apparently his primary enabler, but didn't go over the edge herself. Since both of them were justly proud of their professional accomplishments, they managed to maintain the discipline they needed for professional purposes.
Thompson also has a few entertaining stories to tell about him and their adventures together. The book is slight, but you do get a picture of the Hollywood they inhabited and some more insight into Bogie's character, a man who enjoyed putting people on and practical jokes and was a world class chess player also. You can't help liking them and admiring what they accomplished in their lives, although neither is someone you'd put on a pedestal.
I just can't stop shaking my head over the "phonies" thing. If you read it, you'll see. Bogie had some act going. Well, he was a truly great actor. It shows.

Bogie and MeI thought the book was very good and brought back old Hollywood, how interesting that Bogie and Baby were not what they seemed. It seems that Bogie was quite a drinker and player but nevertheless a fine actor. The book seemed very believable to me.
I am suprised that this book was never made into a movie it would be a great one.

It's an Excellent Read!I read Veritas 1st, then read his first novel, Hostile Witness. I would advise reading Hostile Witness before Veritas since the novels devleop Victor Carl's personality. Both books are excellent reading!
Wm. Lashner is a great writer. He creates an exciting story and also caused me to think about how I would react in the same situation.
I am looking forward to his future books!

Totally enjoyed this book. This was my first Lasher book and it won't be the last. It kept me guessing through the entire story. I did have a hard time getting all the characters straight but once I did I could not put the book down.
Suspenseful, enjoyable novel...I "read" this novel as an unabridged audiobook and without having read "Hostile Witness", but I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot. Lashner did a great job of making Victor Carl a believable character, who is alternately annoying and appealing. I'm now returning for more of Lashner's writing in Hostile Witness...

Book for the beginnersI felt this book was more like a beginners guide to Cluster Concepts and Veritas products. You would be disappointed like me if you are in quest for any greater knowledge on configuration of Veritas / Oracle Clusters or any tech details.
It would served better if this book was titled CLUSTER IN SEARCH OF STOARGE. I guess author would agree with me on this.
THE Clusters BookIf you've got to figure out how to get clusters to work together to run your SAN more cheaply and with plenty of high availability like I do, this book is for you.
