This neat little book of essays is the chronicle of a thoughtful, sometimes iconoclastic man whose life experiences ranged from growing up in a privileged class family to mixing it up with the blue collar set, from once wanting to be an Episcopal priest to questioning some of the Church's basic premises, from pondering the what-is-it of love to musing about the meaning of it all. In between are Chamberlain's insightful views on gun control, mathematics and death and divorce.
Reading "Don't Look at Girls Who Drive Volvo Station Wagons" is akin to listening to an intelligent friend, with brandy in hand by a cozy fireplace after dinner, ruminating, dispensing thoughts and wisdom and humor and even poetry. You may not always agree, but you will enjoy the evening.

Need to replace the propellar in the stern drive. I own a 228 mer. stern drive . Do I need to replace the houseing as well

This is the best available English language book on the history of the Volvo company. The illustraions and writing are both top notch. A thoroughly enjoyable and informative book to read.

Well of course first you have to spent some money to get the book, but that is soon forgotten as you start reading it and using it's content to take care of your car.(In casu a '92 245 2.3 POLAR).

This is the third Bentley service manual I've purchased within this year and I am happy with this one.
The information can be used with volvo 740 and 940(The same engine and transmissions are used) My only complain is that the book does not cover AW70/71 transmission in detail.

Trying to follow the electrical diagrams in this book will reveal its limitations. Other sections seem a bit brief also. However, with the exception of the Volvo factory books, this is the best general reference that I have found. The factory books are purchased seperately, and are meant to go into a binder. To buy all the factory books for the 740 would cost over $3000, making this book a bargin!

Although there have been a few things that I was interested in that were not included in the book, for the most part it's a sufficient repair manual. I'm a very inexperienced mechanically, but I've been able to do quite a bit of work on my 740s using this book. It does cover stuff that I wouldn't even think of doing though---including pulling the tranny apart...

I searched the entire book and found no infomation on how to service or troubleshoot the high beam switch. I did see the turn signal portion but no information on the high beam switch.

i loved this book, it was so hard to find a mechanic who could work on my car. This book was a life saver! it was direct and straight to the piont.

I have just bought this book a couple of weeks ago and I have almost finished reading it. The book aims the amateur boaters who have basic mechanical skills and who are willing to learn their Volvo Penta engines like myself. It is a handbook which should be kept in the boat for emergency situations together with all other necessary tools and spare parts required to fix the boat. The print quality is nice and easily readable however I would prefer if there were more pictures and photos in the book which I believe is the only drawback. For those of you who want to play with your engine at a basic level, I would suggest you to buy this book.

This is a visually stunning book, with hundreds of photos from the Volvo Ocean Race as well as past Whitbred races. The photos alone make this book a worthy addition to your library. However, there's also text, and while it isn't as in depth as I'd have liked, it still conveys much of the excitement from the races. The quotes from the racers are also well picked, and help the flow of the book.

Interesting book. It has ads from the early 544 Volvos right up to the 850's. It's interesting to see how much ahead of the times they were with safety innovations. When you read page after page of how Volvo engineers designed and built the car with the occupants' safety in mind, you become impressed. When you read about some of the incredible collisions that the owners were able to walk away from, it makes you wonder why you'd want to drive anything else. A very enjoyable book for the "Volvophile".
