The Perfect Online Research Guide for Beginners
This book deserves more than 5 stars for making the Internet fully accessible to anyone for a minimum of cost in time and money.

If you have enough skill to turn on your computer and get onto the Internet, this book will take you where you want to go in the fastest, least frustrating way. Within hours, you will be more efficient and effective than people who have done online research for years, but have not yet read this book.

Although Web addresses and sites will change, the best basic methods of how to do research online will shift much less often. You should be able to apply what you learn from this book for some time to come.

Some of the many helpful things you will learn include:

(1) which search engines work best for which kinds of questions

(2) how to get the fewest possible sites from a search with the greatest likelihood that they will be helpful to you

(3) which sources of information to go to directly without a search first

(4) how to assess the credibility of a source

(5) how to get things for free that most people pay for

(6) when to spend money to save time

(7) how to manage your e-mail to spend less time on it.

You will also benefit from three sample search models in chapter 12, one for finding a person, another for doing a business profile, and a third for problem solving. Most of your searches will involve one of these three search types.

An area you may not think about now is what people can learn about you while you do your research. The sections on privacy issues and how you can protect yourself are outstanding.

About a third of the book is devoted to indexes to make it easier for you to find government public records and the right Web site for your research needs.

Even though I have been doing online research for many years, I plan to keep this book next to my computer from now on. If you read many of my reviews, you will notice that that is something I rarely say about a book.

After you have finished learning how to do better and faster online research with this wonderful resource, I suggest that you step back and think about new questions that you should be asking now that you have improved access to good and timely information. For example, should you be doing more to check out investments? Or should you be learning more about becoming a better parent? Or spouse? Asking and answering those questions will probably be the biggest payoff you can get from this very helpful guide.

Be rich in knowledge and turn it into wisdom!

The all-purpose single resource and reference book
Collaboratively edited by Peter Weber and J. J. Newby, and now in a fully revised third edition, Find It Online: The Complete Guide To Online Research by journalist and online trainer Alan M. Schlein is the all-purpose single resource and reference book to looking up the latest and most useful information on anything, anywhere, using the resources of the Internet. Individual chapters address the basics of the Internet, framing one's search strategy, the best tools and search engines available, government resources, evaluating the credibility of information found on the net, and a great deal more. Find It Online is a very highly recommended addition to any personal, professional, school or community library Internet Information Resources reference collection.

An excellent guide for research librarians
It used to be that a good reference librarian had only to keep up with the new books being published, and perhaps keep one eye on the newspapers and learned journals. Nowadays, one has to keep track of where best to find the answers to questions on the Web, as well. And it ain't easy! Massive printed volumes of Web addresses weren't much help even a decade ago because they were indiscriminate and seldom included annotations. What we needed -- and still need -- are a few collections of a (relatively) few carefully selected germane Web sites with the reasons given for their inclusion. And this discriminating and well thought out guide is the best one I've seen yet. It's intended mostly for the professional information broker or commercial researcher-for-hire, but librarians in any large public or academic library system do much the same sort of thing and will profit enormously by reading it. After an excellent introduction to the principles of online research, it's divided into topical sections: government resources, public records, news sites, business tools, and international (i.e., non-U.S.) research. Then there are several sections on managing and filtering what you find, how to evaluate its credibility and utility, and privacy concerns. Schlein spends considerable time on fee-based and "hidden" resources, too, not just the freebies on the public Web. Some of the sites he recommends I was already aware of, but there are many others I hadn't run across before. And I have been recommending his advice on search strategies and information massaging to my colleagues. There are a couple of annoying things about this otherwise superior book, however. One is the need for much, much tighter copyediting -- like saying "the software can be moderated" when they meant "modified," and the sometimes eccentric punctuation, and the tendency to break Web addresses in peculiar places (letting only the last character of ".html" fall to the next line gives you a quite different address). The other annoyance is a tendency by the author to laud (frequently) any book published by his editors, associates, or advisors -- so much so that it becomes embarrassing. But given the high quality of the book's actual content, I suppose I can live with that.

Wow!!
This book was great. Met with the authors on yesterday in Houston, and they were awesome. The storylines were entertaining and well written. Carl and LaJill's story was heartwarming, Angel's story was a dream come true, and Mr. Joseph's story - oh well! - it has the makings of a Hollywood movie. There was something for everybody in this book. Carl is doing a great job in bringing these young proteges along. Kudos to Carl and his Group!!!!!!!!

Held my attention from beginning to end!!!
A Dollar and a Dream was beyond entertaining!!! The three stories were totally different yet really good reads. Carl Weber and La Jill Hunt had the humorous tale and the ending was funny as hell!!! I can't wait to read Drama Queen when it drops!! Angel Hunter's story was a ghetto dream come true. Dwayne S. Joseph's story was of the meter!!! I felt like I was watching a movie unfold as I read it. I am really waiting to see what he has planned next!!! Overall, I must say that I was impressed by this book and the anthology was by far one of the best.Carl Weber has the magic touch, whatever he seems to write is awesome!!!

Great Reading
A Dollar And A Dream was great! The stories were so different and entertaining. Carl and La Jill's story was funny, Angel's was sweet, and Dwayne's was intense! I will definitely be looking for other works by these authors! I'd recommend this book to anybody!

Another Great Book by Weber
I got a Weber Summit grill two years ago, then I went out looking for cookbooks, since I never had owned a grill before and had no idea what to do or where to start. Some cookbooks are strictly for charcoal grills; other cookbooks just didn't have the right kind of directions. It seems like some authors out there don't want to recognize the existence of gas grills. I really like the convenience of a gas grill. I discovered the Art of the Grill cookbook and it had the kind of directions I needed and understood. The recipes in that book are great. The salmon is a snap because you cook it on a sheet of foil, so it's easy, delicious and no cleanup. Even the strawberry pie was wonderful.
Then along came this latest book. It's even better with lots more recipes and great instructions. I hate grill books that don't have clear instructions on the heat you need, among other things. I have made the stuffed veal chops several times and the sea bass and the simple pork chops that you just marinate for 30 minutes. Vegetables are also easy to grill, and I think they always taste better grilled. The recipes always come out as promised. I have no been disappointed, and I am anxious to try many more recipes that I know will turn out. This is the ultimate grill cookbook.

Grilling is fun!!!
My husband loves to grill and we love food cooked that way, but I felt that things were getting a little boring. Same old stuff, time after time. We own a Weber grill, and I found this book on line, so I bought it. We have had a wonderful time looking through the recipes and picking out different things to try. Nothing seems too complicated or overly time consuming, yet everything we've made so far has been just WONDERFUL. Not only the recipes, but the marinades, sauces, and rubs, too. We've also learned a lot about different cuts of meat and different ways of cooking. I cant' say enough good things about this book. My father also owns a Weber and has been grilling for many years, but I plan to buy him this book, because I think he and my mom will really enjoy some of the recipes. This is just a great book to own.

Step up to the next level
Since I've owned and used this book, the food coming off my grill has been fantastic. I've learned a lot from the book.

A note from Maureen Farquhar
Fantastic photography in another large book from Versace. This book captures the 'rock chic' glamourama which the late Versace excelled at creating. The association between 'Rock and Roll', and art is full indulged here creating a empirical illusion to the Versace dynasty. The glossy presentation of the images also adds to an overall feeling of luxury. The only reason I have not given this book the top rating is for its inclusion of Elton John - who makes me sick. So what if its expensive, luxuries like this don't come cheap. ciao,

Maureen Farquhar (maureenfarquhar@yahoo.com)

Gianni Versace, a Fashion Genuis
Gianni Versace was a designer who loved to push the envelope. His clothes were a mixture of extremes: sexy, sleazy, colorful, tacky, and elegant. One adjective you'd never find in a sentence with the word Versace is "boring." His clothes commanded--and often got--attention, which is why he was such a favorite among celebrities such as Madonna, Elton John, Liz Hurley, Courtney Love, Prince, Jon Bon Jovi and even Princess Diana. This book is a fabulous, eye-opening collection of vivid photographs of models and rock stars in Versace: from Prince to the members of British boy band Take That. Some outfits are more releaving than others, but they're all unmistakably Versace. Diana herself is also included in the book, along with a few words of praise for the designer. Tragically, Versace was murdered in the summer of 1997, but his spirit and influence live on. This book comes highly recommended. Drop it on your coffeetable, and your guests won't want to put it down.

excellent!
A must have book for all Versace fans.

Somewhat Disappointed
Unfortunately, the third time around for Carl Weber's latest novel was not what I expected. While I assumed it would be about babies, the momma and their drama, the writing of the story seemed somewhat simple. Having read Mr. Weber's first two novels, both of which were thoroughly enjoyable and extremely entertaining, Baby Momma Drama had a very very slow start, almost to the first 1/3 of the book. When it finally picked up, it just seemed too late to introduce the drama and after finishing the book, it was like....."is that it?" I'm inclined to think that this is the author's first story written, yet published third in line. One character in particular just seemed a little bit too....dumb for lack of better words and while I made the attempt to stretch my imagination as far as it could go considering the title and contents of the novel, the character just lacked even minimal common sense.

What I did find positive about the novel is that many readers may relate if they've ever known someone or personally experienced the particular baby momma drama syndrome expressed in the novel. In addition, the author's story kept your attention with the anticipation that the drama was on it's way. There are many times in the book that one will find themselves saying "oh my goodness" as there is plenty of drama going on (last 2/3rds of the book) with the inter-woven lives of the characters, however, for me, the story was just too predictable.

On a final positive note, I believe that Mr. Weber definately has a nack for telling drama filled stories, as he's proven that with all of his novels. As a reader I will continue to buy his work because he adds a different kind of flavor to the world of fiction writing and one "not so good" novel by an author doesn't set the pace for future stories to come.

Just Plain Drama!
This was an excellent fast pace read and I recommend it to other bookclubs.

Baby Momma Drama consists of several Main Characters. Jasmine who is dealing with her Drug Dealer Boyfriend Derrick and his Baby Momma Wendy. Jasmine finds herself falling in love with Dylan while Derrick is in jail but Dylan has drama of his own by dealing with trying to get over his ex-girlfriend Monica. Then there is Travis who is dating Jasmine's sister Stephanie who can't seem to stay away from her baby's daddy Malek. Stephanie risks her securee future with Travis by constantly getting tangled up in lies concerning her relationship with Malek.

Will anyone be happy in the end? Hmmm .... You'll just have to read this hard to put down book. There are so many twists and turns it will have you glued to each page.

Carl Weber has definitely done it again . I am looking forward to the sequel to Married Men in 2004 called Player Haters.

Off The Hook
This book was off the hook. It is a must read book. If anyone is going through that baby momma drama needs to read the book.I can't even explain how much this book was good. My husband do not read and he read this book. I suggest everyone read this book.

A Sweet Easy Christmas Read
The Christmas Tree was a really sweet and easy christmas read. It was a nice story about "tree" and how it eventually made it's way to Rockefeller Center. It's a really short book and I read it in one evening. Don't pass this one up... it'll get you in the spirit of finding your christmas tree.

A classic Christmas story for the whole family.
As the chief gardener of Rockefeller Center in New York City the narrator of our story has a colossal job ahead of him each year at Christmas Days end. Another year begins and he is already scouting out possibilities for the next years most perfect tree to decorate the prestigious Center for all to take pleasure in.

It is when the perfect tree is found on the Bush Creek Convent grounds that his job gets just a little bit harder. Sister Anthony unfolds a splendid Christmas tale that will leave the reader with a story you will want to share with the whole family. I can see this book easily becoming a family tradition. Heartwarming and wonderful a 5 star Christmas tale for certain. Kelsana@yahoo.com 12/25/01

The Christmas Tree
It is a good book and I enjoyed reading word for word. The story reminds me of the Christmas celebrations with my family in my country. I was deeply moved and brought back good memories as well as sad memories. I will recommend the book to anyone who likes to remember cherished times with family.

Very nearly as good as it gets
I LIKE David Weber's writing. After I found my first Honor Harrington, I couldn't rest till I had the whole series. And I've read 3 or 4 of his other books.

But this book is really special. Weber brings three distinctive personalities: Alicia, a very special warrior; Tisiphane, one of the three furies; and a very advanced AI. All three inhabit the same body although the AI also inhabits their star ship.

There is breathtaking suspense as our protaginist(s) track down some particularly evil pirates, solving the mystery of who they are, where they come from and what their ultimate purpose is. Aided and impeded by her own military, she uses the arcane talents of all her selves to accomplish her goals.

But more important than the space opera aspects (and Weber sets up some of the best tactics and strategy in space warfare you'll find), the development of the conjoined leading character is fascinating. For both adventure and character development, this is a don't miss book.

A True Masterpiece of Science Fiction!...
This is the very first David Weber book I ever read! It is still one of the very best of any book he has ever written, I also feel it is one of the true, "New Classics" in science fiction. Weber is is a Tom Clancy of science fiction and his books are worth every moment spend in reading there pages. This is a book you will not be able to put down!...

Weber gives us three special "woman" in his creation of "Fury" Alicia the human "Special Forcess" type soldier who has lost everything that she holds dear. Tisiphone, a immortal creature of spirit from ancient greece, alone, a orphan in the distant future of man where her name is nothing more than a fading legend from the shadows of earth's past. Megarea a creature of logic circuits and computer code, she never-the-less is selfaware and as protector and daugher/sister to Alicia will do anything to help her gain revenge for the lose she has suffered.

This is Weber space opera at its very finest! Battle tactics, character development and storyline are all handled with Weber's impecable attention to detail. My appreciation for the author's skill grows with each time I read another author. Mr. Weber handles the Techonology of his "Universe" with great skill. We always understand what he is talking about yet he never needs a encyclopedia of space and technical terms to tell us all he wants us to know. This is a book that is DEFINATELY worth reading!...

A Tale of Justice/Revenge
Path of the Fury is the first independent novel by the author. In this novel, "pirates" are raiding Imperial planets; not very important planets, but still belonging to the Empire. After hitting two other planets, they make the mistake of raiding Mathison's World. One group massacres the occupants of a homestead and are looting when the owner comes home. Former-Captain Alicia DeVries of the Imperial Cadre kills every one of the raiding party, but not before they have inflicted some grievous wounds.

When the Imperial rescuers arrive, they fail to detect Alicia's body on three separate SAR overflights, but she is fully visible when a search team touches down at the homestead. The Imperials are confused, and not a little worried, by her survival and apparent invisibility. After the initial surgery to repair her wounds, Alicia is turned over to a Cadre medico, Tannis, an old friend and fellow survivor of Shallingsport.

When Alicia returns to consciousness, she finds herself possessed by an ancient Greek daimon, the Fury Tisiphone. After ruling out insanity as a possible answer, she comes to terms with the old and reduced spirit of revenge and begins planning how they will track down the people who ordered her family to be murdered. In the meantime, Alicia conspires to convince the medics of her madness.

When Alicia is brought to Soissons, the Sector Capital, for treatment, they see for the first time the alpha synth warship that would figure in their justice/revenge. Such ships have a crew of one, a neurally linked pilot who is part of a merge with the ship's AI. Tisiphone starts wandering around the planetary computer networks and making plans.

This novel begins with a fantastic premise, the existence of an ancient demonic spirit which has survived for thousands of years. The author doesn't explain this anomaly, but just makes it the basis of the plot. Once they have hijacked the alpha synth ship and Alicia's persona has been impressed on the newborn AI, the new Furies are created and are looking for justice/revenge.

By the way, this novel reads like a wish-fulfillment fantasy of a junior officer who has encountered some insufferable seniors. The writing, however, makes it all interesting, if not believable, and well worth a few hours of suspending disbelief.

Highly recommended for Weber fans and anyone else who enjoys future war SF with justice/revenge overtones.

Tender Warrior

Author: Stu Weber

a great book--if you like this kinda stuff
I have never really understood the need some people have for focusing on and gaining a deeper understanding of gender issues. That said, of all the books I have encountered on the subject, Stu Weber's "Tender Warrior" is filled with the least pop-psychology claptrap. Instead, he presents a solid, lucid portrait of Biblical manhood. The anecdotes Weber relates are some of the main attractions here--they are very humorous and insightful. If this book is your kind of thing, then I recommend it heartily to you.

The Essence of a True Man
This book has been a very inspirational tool and a guiding light for how I strive to live as a man of Christ. Drawn from the Word, Stu Weber writes about manhood. Not the manhood under attack today on TV and in the media, but the real Godly truth. He proves and speaks of the responsibility given to man by God, and all the roles that we play while upon the earth. You will have goosebumps from cover to cover and in the end, you will challenge yourself to be the man you know you are meant to be. Tender Warrior will become a cornerstone in you Christian library.

WANT TO BE A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR (READ THIS BOOK)
What is a real man,are you one? Want to be your wife or girlfriends Knight in Shining armor? Than read this book and buy one for your men friends.it will change your life.
Stu Weber is a mans-man,true down to earth biblical principals. Men if there are any two books that you should own first of course is the Holy Bible and this would be my second choice.
It will make you a better man, husband &father.
Thank you Stu Weber for this book.
