A life lesson for all of us
I read the book after hearing about it on tv, and have sent it to my great nieces. You see I am like Willy I am also in a wheelchair. I have never gotten to see my great-nieces in person and hope that when they reed the book and their mom explains to them that I am (like Willy) in a wheelchair that they cn understand why I haven't been able to come see them (they are in Oregon and I am in Missouri). Willy is a courageous pup and we can all learn from him how to face life's adversities.

Not sappy, just truly inspirational - in the best way!
I find that the best inspirational tales come from real life - and this book is no exception. I saw the owner of Willy (yes, there actually is a real Willy) on Animal Planet and knew I just had to buy the book. It is as charming as expected and not just because of spunky little Willy, whose back legs are paralyzed and who has to learn to "walk" again, with the help of a special wheel-cart. It is just as inspiring to read of his owner's attempts to find a way to get him walking - using everything from acupuncture to helium balloons to hold up the back legs. A great read for the entire family!

A story of love & courage for all ages
Willy the Chihuahua lives at an animal hospital, because his back legs don't work. He dreams of having a home and a family and playing with other animals and chasing sticks. Then one day, a pretty lady comes and takes him home with her! Willy meets his new brother, another Chihuahua named Sweet Pea, and his new sister, a fluffy silver cat named Marshmallow.

Willy still can't walk or run, and has to use his front legs to drag himself from place to place, until his new mother tries some different ideas to help him get around--with often humorous results.

Filled with bright, gorgeous watercolor illustrations that even pre-readers can appreciate, HOW WILLY GOT HIS WHEELS is the story of a loveable and courageous little dog. Written for age levels 5-10, it's a book that everyone from toddlers to adults can enjoy on many levels. Authors Turner and Mohler have done a tremendous job of showing life from a physically disabled viewpoint without preaching or patronizing. Here's hoping we will get to hear more of Willy's adventures in the near future!

Hank-Willy
I'm over 50, and I loved this book! For all you parents and teachers out there, the hero is a decent feline being who treats his friends and family well, follows a personal dream, and models "straight shooting and smooth riding" among all the "bushwackers" in Furfly. Happy Trails, Hank-Willy!

A wonderful story with unexpected humor throughout. Any chance Priscilla and H-W could meet up with Johnny-Kris in the sequel?

Clever Satire with an Intergenerational Appeal
HANK-WILLY is the product of a creative genius. Sharon Boswell has written a clever and cute book that will speak to older children, youth, and adults equally. That's an editorial coup!

This book is a natural because it centers around two popular themes--cats and country music. All across America now cats and country music are cool. Cats outnumber dogs as America's favorite pets, plus the fact that c/w music has wide acceptance.

HANK-WILLY is about a cat who aspires to become a living legend by going to Nashville and making it as a country singer. He does. He also courts Priscilla Angora and wins her. If you like cats, you'll love this book. HANK-WILLY is surrounded by a number of breeds that figure into the plot--Priscilla Angora, Grace Grimalkin, Tallulah Tabby, Montague Manx III, A. A. Angora, Fish-Head Eddie, Mexi-Cat, Horace Somali, J. B. Birman, and more. One of Hank-Willy's best songs is "I Wish I Could Spend All Nine of My Lives with You," which he directs to Priscilla.

I'm a cat fancier, and I've read it six times!

Hooray for Hank Willie
What a delight! A wonderful trip to fantasy land via our hero, Hank-Willie, as he holds on tight to follow his dream.

A terrific and fast moving read.

Thanks, Sharon Boswell

Dahl A True Artist, Story Classic
While the book version of this tale is much darker than the movie script, the overall message is valuable to 4th graders (when it was read to me), & adults alike - over indulgence, of any sort, leads to no good.... The tale always stuck w/ me, & is classic - it will stick w/ children by & large.
There are few comparisons to Dahl, when it comes to a descriptive setting, & lavish tale, w/ a lesson to boot (you in the patoot!)... My only lament is that the author is dead.

A charming childs' books
I've read this book as a child, and think it is a classic.

The book fuses three basic themes - the cinderella story (a child who rises from poverty to fortune), every child's fanatasy of owning a sweets shop / factory, and Jules Verne style fantasy (Oompa Loompas from Africa, miraculous sweets, fantastic teleporting TV, etc).

This book was passed in my extended family from child to child, and as everybody knows and likes it, we sometimes jokingly refer to it.

I've read it nearly twenty years ago, and enjoyed picking up the same copy I read than and reread it a short while ago - it's one of my favourite childhood books.

A FIVE STAR RATING!!!!!
It starts about a poor little boy who barly has anything to eat. He lives with his great grandparents and his mother. On his way to school everyday he walks past a gaint chocolate factory, the oner is a strange little man with lots of secrets.

It also made me cry but in a good way.READ this book if you like excitment, adventure, and love- Upchuck and the Rotten Willy!

Can cats and dogs really be friends?
This is a story about how a cat and a dog can be friends. Upchuck is the cat and Rotten Willy is the dog. When Upchuck's friend moves away and his Katie goes to some place called College, he becomes lonely. So the only one to play with is Rotten Willy, a Rottweiler, "As big as a car and as black as death itself," but can he trust him to be his friend and not another stupid dog wanting to bite off his head and eat him for lunch?

If you want to find out, then you will have to read the book! It warmed my heart, and made me laugh. If you like books about animals and like to laugh, then this book is for you!

Heather Harger, age 10

Dilbert DIES!
Yes, in this book, the character of Dilbert dies. But never fear, he is cloned back to life from his garbage! This book covers strips from mid-1990 to May 1991. The dinosaurs Bob and Dawn have an egg which hatches into the short-lived character of Rex. Also returning for a series is Dilber't Ego. Scott Adams continues to improve his trade in this book. Great for when you need some laughs or light reading.

5 Stars All the Way
Bring me the Head of Willy the Mailboy! is just as funny as all the other Dilbert books. This one like all of them is a must read for any Dilbert Fan. Look at the average rating for it, A perfect five stars so you know it must be great

Magnificent Book!
Bring Me the Head of Willy the Mailboy is a very wonderful Dilbert book. It exposes the many insane issues of life. It has not fully developed into a workplace comic strip yet, but it is evolving into a semi-workplace comic strip. It is a wonderful book with some darker sides also-like Dilbert dying (But coming back, of course).

Best available
Haugen's Norsk-Engelsk Ordbok, available in every Norwegian bookstroe, is the best full-sized NE dictionary available, by far (mine is dogearred from use). Contains some dialect words, but too few.

Excellent dictionary
This dictionary is as good as everyone else describes. I'm learning Norwegian, and it was definitly worth buying....
Later... I'm now fluent in Norwegian and still use this dictionary several times per week to better understand the nuances of new words. If you're interested in Norwegian, buy this dictionary.

Norwegian-English Dictionary by Einar Haugen
This book is for looking up the English meanings to Norwegian words. I'm in the process of helping someone translate a book he has written in Norway, and this book is PERFECT for the job. It contains both bokmål & nynorsk words, which is especially helpful to me because the book I'm trying to translate has both languages in it, too. There are many cross-references and examples of usage that are helpful in finding the best English equivalents of Norwegian words. There have been some words that the author I'm working with cannot translate into English, and I've found about 99% of those problem-words in this book. I don't really know very much Norwegian (yet!), and what knowledge I have is entirely self-taught. But this dictionary has made it possible for me to successfully do a good translation from Norwegian to English with a fair amount of ease, and to learn a LOT in the process! I would recommend it VERY highly! :-)

Anne Frank the Girl the Legend
After reading Anne Frank the Last Seven Months, I relized how difficult it was for the jews and for any person during this time. I like this book a lot and I recommond reading it if possible. This book makes you feel like you new exactly how that person was feeling. It put you inside the stories the people told. It was a sad story to read because of all the people that died of other peoples differences. That the samething happen to every person that was a 'jew" that the story didn't change. People were hiding out of years before they were sent off to a death camp. They lived in fear of the next day hoping that the Green Police weren't find them. Once they were found they didn't know if they would live to see there family again. The Nazis killed so many people and so many people got disease and got sick. Everyday more love ones were dying and if you were lucky you could be with them as they die as for some was sent to different death camps, you had no idea if you wife, husband, son, daughter, or best friend since were in third grade had died.

These women are the definition of courage
This is one of the best books I have ever read. A must read for all ages. These ladies are some of the most courageous people in the world. They perserved knowing that their demise could be any day. But living was too important to them so they dug deep within themselves to keep their spirit alive and they succeeded. Hooray for them!!! Miep Gies is also a very courageous person. She is right up there with these ladies. "Anne Frank Remembered" by Miep Gies and Alison Leslie Gold is also a wonderful book. If you are looking for excellent reading and a time frame for the life of Anne Frank, then by all means read this book. I don't know if I could handle the pressures that these ladies went through to live, and I hope that I never have to endure their suffering, but if I do, I will take these 7 women with me and draw on their strengths and spirit to keep me alive.

Get it!
I read Anne Frank's diary again during my first trip to Amsterdam recently to prepare myself to a visit to the Secret Annex. But the book (and the corny Hollywood adaptation) left me wondering what happened to her after the diary. This book about her last seven months at the concentration camps gives a clear picture of what Anne's life was like through the accounts of the women who encountered her there. I could not put this book down and would sleep at 4 in the morning, read it in bed, in the bathroom, in the car, sometimes it would leave me crying. I am not Jewish and I am only in my 30s but this book touched me a lot (just like Schindler's List) and left me wanting to know more.

Makes for casual reading
If you want details, you're not going to find them here. But here you WILL find connected, flowing storytelling and a sense of BEING there when stuff happens. You won't find drama and excitement here.

Lively, entertaining
This book is different than many mythology texts, it is a good read. The stories are more like stories, and they carry on from one story or chapter to the next. It holds the attention.

Fantastic Storytelling
This book was (and still is) one of my childhood favorties. As I was growing up I found most texts boring and lost interest in mythology books that concentrated on being specific and complex. I stumbled upon this book in my Junior High library and was instantly hooked. It is full of wonderfully told stories that constantly entertain while providing an imaginative way of getting the stories' points across. It is a great book for children and I would suggest it for parents too

teriffic book for kids who love vehicles
Both my kids love this book--a 7-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy. The personalities of the vehicles are nicely done, and the tone isn't typical American pap. The only drawback is that all the main characters are male...The illustrations are modern and really well done without being too abstract.

Fun Family Reading
My family checks this book out from the library regularly. My children are 5 and 3 and they can't get enough of Jack Tractor, Benny the Breakdown truck and all the other wonderful characters. My husband and I enjoy the book as much as the children do. We all have our favorite story but we read them all several times a day. I would recommend this book to any parent with children who love cars and trucks or who just love a great story.

A great favorite
We have taken this book out from the library 17 times for our 4 year old he loves it. I am sadly disapointed to see it is no longer in print. A great book that can be read and reread by children and adults alike.

Anyone who loves guinea pigs, not just for kids
Those of us who love guinea pigs can become addicted; we can become fanatics. And why not? They're cute, they're cuddly, they're charming. This book may be a story for children, but it emphasizes the playful nature of guinea pigs that outsiders are unaware of.

Many people think of small cage pets as boring - well, you'd be boring too, if you spent your whole life in a room only a little larger than you are! But give a guinea pig room to explore, and explore he will. Real guinea pigs explore rooms in trains (one piggle behind another); these two piggies illustrate this behavior excellently. Real piggies push balls around with their noses, run through PVC tubes or ferret tubes, and occasionally tease larger pets by running under their noses; John Willie and Freddy McGee again illustrate this real behavior, in an amusing way.

The pictures are great - they'll have you saying "I know a guinea pig that looks like that!" The text is minimal, as would be expected, but what there is, is amusing. Words are not confined to one-syllable words; the author is aware that young children may have a receptive vocabulary larger than their speaking vocabulary, and also is aware that a book should be amusing for the adult who may have to read it 80 times in a row for their child.

I own this book and I don't even have children; other adults who visit us and are amused by our pet guinea pigs wind up taking this book off our shelves and reading it all the way through. Sometimes, it never makes it back off the coffee table and onto the shelf, because friends keep reading it. Buy your own copy, people!

Adorable story even if you don't have a guinea pig!
I enjoy sharing this book with my preschool class. It never fails to invite speculation and the creation of our own stories on the adventures of our own pet guinea pigs.

A fun book to read over and over!
Everyone in our family LOVED reading about the adventures of John Willie and Freddy McGee. From the start, these two curious guinea pigs with interesting names kept all of us laughing and looking forward to the next page. The colorful pictures along with lively descriptions kept us interested in their adventures from beginning to end. Although our Kindergartener brought this book home from the school library, our 2nd grader and our 6th grader read it often and loved it too. It has truly become one of my own personal favorites. This is a book any parent wouldn't mind reading over and over again.
