For being a Service Manual I don't think it has a very good Electrical section.

This book is the only bok that I have found that is a service manual for the xs Yamaha.

This book is exatly what you could expect from a "do it yourself book", good eplanations, illustrastions, all the pictures are clear and easy to see.

In short This book is A OK !

A WORD OF WARNING: The book does NOT cover the changes made to the FZ-750, in the end of 87. Changes are: quad piston discbrakes engine upgrade to 107 BHP. minor elektrical changes

Good diagrams and pictures, however not model specific. Detailed troubleshooting is difficult since book is geared to all models in these years. Great for finding part numbers, however I found 1 or 2 conflicting part #'s in the book.

Very essential information like maintenance and basic repair is included. But lacks major repair information.

I knew there was a problem when I found that the index shows chapter 7 as "GM V6 and V8 Engines"! Chapter 8 is shown to be "Ford V8 Engines" and chapter 13 as "Lower Gearcase (1964-1977)! Jumping from automotive to marine, chapter 12 is labled as "Stern Drive Removal, Installation and Upper Gearcase Overhaul"! The book is actually about only 3 models of Yamaha Snowmobiles, (not all inclusive as the cover suggests) but errors abound. Laughable, AND THIS IS THE FIFTH PRINTING!!!

I rented this book from the local library and found the information in it usefull, but it had a lot of information that I did not need. In some areas it is so details that it drives you nuts and in others the information is missing or wrong.

This book I've heard is copied from the yamaha OEM shop manual. And they leave many things out of it that you are left to guess what they mean. But they do have diagrams and photos that the OEM doesn't have.

I own a 1998 70hp Yamaha. My maintenance, just like most outboard maintenance, is with the carburetors. I have worked extensively with other factory and after market manuals. I was very disappointed with this manual. The carburetors for this motor were not documented. The pictures in the manual are poor (very dark). I found the Clymer manual (also available thru Amazon) to be much better.

I recently purchased a boat with twin "96" model 225 SW Yamaha's. I typically do all of my own maintenance and was looking for a manual that basically covered my new engines. The title indicated that it covers all motors from 1992 threw 1998. I was concerned with this broad range but thought that it would have a few good pieces of info that could be useful. I was very wrong in that assumption. The illustrations are of very old motors and the wiring diagrams are so small that the print cannot be read with a magnifying glass. In the entire manual there is not even a mention of my 225 hp motors. Buyer be ware of this very poor publication. Clymer has outdone them self with this very poor book

Indepth information is included on all aspects of servicing covering fuel system, oil injection, ignition & electrical system, power head, lower unit, trim & tilt, tuning and maintenance. There are hundreds of supporting illustrations, diagrams and step by step instructions making this manual easy to follow for the begginer to the expert. This manual covers everything you need to know about Yamaha outboards, nothing is left out. If you own a 2 stroke Yamaha outboard between the years 1992 - 1998, then you should get yourself a copy of this manual. You won't regret it.

I have tried to use this manual in working on my motorcycle. Some portions of it are OK, some are terrible. Certain key items are completely left out, it would appear that the authors assume the owner has the original owner's manual. This service manual does not contain essential items such as, oil quantities, spark plug information, etc..

There are two major publishers in the motorcycle maintenance handbook market, Haynes and Clymer. After doing some research on the net, I opted for the Haynes. I have since returned it and have ordered the Clymer. The basic problem that I had with the Haynes was that the print was very small. If I'm working on my bike, I want to be able to quickly glance at the manual for information as I'm working on the bike. I didn't think that this would be possible with the small print of the Haynes manual.

Not much help! Don't waste your money.

A minimum book. It has little phrases such as "If the problem appears to be in the hydraulic system, refer it to a dealer" Why in the heck would anyone waste good money to buy this book when it's best advise on how to repair something is this. I wanted a book that tells me how to open the cylinder and replace the O Rings, not take it to a dealer for $999 bucks on a $3.00 repair.
